1.) Why aren't we canning him now? Texans did themselves a huge favor by starting their search early. We should too. Nobody wants to battle for Leslie. Maybe at least on defense.
realistic coaching ideas: Greg Roman (49ers OC), Vic Fangio (49ers DC), David Shaw (Stanford HC), Mike Zimmer (Bengals DC), Todd Bowles (Cardinals DC).
Gruden will want a ton of money fwiw

John Gruden? Gary Kubiak? A potted plant?

Where/how did you determine that no one on defense is battling for Frazier. Did you see anyone, besides JA not trying? Seems ridiculous to make such a claim.

This claim is just as ridiculous. Eh, probably more so actually. JA...
not trying? Riiiiiiiight. That's a stretch.

Yeah, the team battled like crazy for 4 quarters yesterday.

Watch the film and see how many times JA runs into the blocker and pretty much stops. That is what I mean. He is all about trying to get sacks. Just my opinion and thanks so much for yours.

How many games have we lost with the defense not making a stop? Is it the players or coaching?
To stay on the replacement topic - Darrell Bevell, Todd Bowles?

How does it benefit Allen in the sack column if he just "runs into his blocker and pretty much stops". Does he get a lot of sacks doing that? I guess the one on Eli Manning was pretty good! hahaha.

There is no such thing as an "expensive coach". Given what we invest in players, coaches are cheap. THink about how much we waste on Ponder every year. I am sick and tired of my Vikes being the training-wheels bike for new underqualified coaches. Give me Gruden or another elite coach who actually WON in the NFL, or go home.

And yet lost. Again. With their 'prevent' D. If I was the owner, I would certainly be looking for someone competent to coach my team. But I think the Wilf's live in a different world.

Bowles comes up a lot in these types of conversations but if the Vikings go that route, I would look strongly at Ray Horton. He's the one that really started to turn the Cardinals defense around and just look at what he's doing with the Browns this year.
Pete Carmichael (OC Saints) is another interesting one. He's been in the league forever and has learned under not only Payton but Schottenheimer as well. It would be nice to see a Saints style offense here.

I've been banging the Horton drum for awhile. Provided he has the mentality, personality and aptitude to hire the right coordinators, of course.
Carmichael makes me nervous. Payton's the mastermind there. We saw the Saints last year w/o Payton, and the Saints finished at the bottom of the NFC South at 7-9 (though I think still in the top-5 in total offense). But how much of Saints' overall success is due to Carmichael? He walked into a dream situation. The Saints were the number one offense in the league the year before he became coordinator with a franchise quarterback and excellent system already in place overseen by offensive genius head coach. I also think he said publicly that New Orleans would be really tough to leave. Especially to a team primarily built around a RB and playing outdoors in Minnesota. Talk about a bit of a cultural and environmental shock. Of course, I rather like the idea of a Saints-style offense with a guy like Manziel tossing the rock. That could be a heck of a lot of fun to watch.

They're playing for themselves. Frazier is absolutely incapable of in-game adjustments and this is the 30000x we've lost because we use Cover-Nobody defense in the final 30 seconds

how is Gruden elite? He inherited Tony Dungy's Superbowl defense, and then went on to mediocrity for the rest of his career
no retreads. Mike Zimmer or Greg Roman would be my top two options.

I like Horton too. But he is the EXACT opposite of Fraizer. Dont know if this team is ready for a HC that might actually yell at them for screwing up.
