NFC North QBs

Christian Ponder has no real hope of being a top tier quarterback in our division let alone in the NFL. Rodgers is top 3 QB in the league. Cutler maybe top 12-15, and stafford in the same boat somewhere (mainly because he has Megatron). I have been a Vikes fan since I was a kid, and we have never had a top QB. I hope to see them win a Super Bowl some year, but if this history of mediocre QBs continues i am afraid I never will. Ponder doesn't have to be like Brady or Manning. Just needs to be like a Flacco or Matt Ryan. Maybe he will surprise me and the whole Viking Nation! Oh by the way, I guess Bret Favre was pretty elite and we got one game away. But he was old and showed it in the championship game.

Skol Vikings!!

I wish whenever Ponder's name is mention in a post, the entire post gets stashed in a thread that is filled with other posts about Ponder that we've seen millions of times.

Ponder is as polarizing here as religion and politics anywhere.

He really is. It's amazing and sad at the same time.

I am hopefull that he does well this year and if not it will be time for a change. Until then, maybe fans could wait and see how he actually does, starting with the Lions this week. Might be a little much to ask from some of them but he seems to have better receivers, a year and a half under his belt of experience and although the O-line looks as poor as ever in pass protection, maybe he can reach the goals that he was expected to reach when he was drafted in the first round. I will be rooting for him and the rest of the team, :smilevike:

I think Flacco is pretty good, no better than that!

Ponder has a legitimate shot to be the #2 Q in the NFC North. Period. Cutler and Stafford have the skillset, but haven't yet had the consistency. Cutler has been in the league for awhile too, so probably is what he is at this point.

His leadership is crap and he has yet to prove that he can consistenly string together an entire season of the very good football that his skillset would allow you to believe.

Stafford is having problems right now, himself. His mechanics have gone to crap and he's got a serious problem with honing in on Calvin. CJ is the best receiver in the game, but he's the ultimate crutch for a QB. That's only good enough to be a competitive team and NOT a Super Bowl contender.

Spare me. Ponder has a shot.

I believe the list Goes
!. Rogers
2. Stafford
3. Culter
4. Ponder

Rogers is by far the best in the division and arguably the best in the nfl. Stafford I believe is second, despite the crappy year and plague of injuries he does have a 40td 4000yard arm. Cutler has not proved much (stat wise) but has won quite a few games with his arm and athletic ability (he went 10-6 his rookie year, and one year took the bears 11-5. He is not a stat machine but he wins games). Ponder I have last over Cutler because Cutler has proven throughout his career he is able to having winning seasons without his HB nearly re-writing the history book.

Given how long he's been in the league, it is sad. I've seen enough to be patient and cautiously optimistic. It was too bad that he wasn't able to go in the post season last year.
I just wonder how the worm will turn around here if he puts together and solid season. I don't think I could bear reading the takes of those who have been so nasty.....then again if he fails to improve this year it will just get louder and nastier.

I wanna say right now that I'm a "wait and see" guy. I won't take credit and I'll not have to defend myself, because it's going to get crazy-er up in here. :smilevike:

No Bears QBs ever do special things, it is how that team is always built, play defense run the ball. Cutler could put up bigger numbers in a dome, but he does still lack clutch.

That must be why he threw 8 4th quarter TDs and had the highest 4th quarter QB rating last year. ;)
