Minnesota Vikings first-round draft pick Sharrif Floyd is expected to miss the remainder of the preseason after having a procedure performed on his left knee.
According to Mark Craig of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Vikings’ head coach Leslie Frazier said the procedure wasn’t an arthroscopic surgery and merely called it a minor procedure. Frazier said Floyd will not play this week against the San Francisco 49ers and probably won’t play in the preseason finale against the Tennessee Titans next week.
Floyd initially injured his knee in the Vikings’ preseason opener against the Houston Texans last week.
Rookie first-round draft pick Sharrif Floyd is expected to miss the rest of the preseason because of a "minor procedure" on his left knee, Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said after practice today.
"I don't think he'll practice until next week," Frazier said. "It's nothing major. He shouldn't miss any time, as far as our regular season is concerned. He won't play this week [at San Francisco] and probably not in the Tennessee game [next week]."
Frazier said the procedure wasn't arthroscopic surgery. He said it was just a minor procedure to ease the pain at the front of the knee. Floyd hurt the knee in the preseason opener on Aug. 8.
In other news, backup guard Tyler Holmes left the field on a cart for heat-related reasons. He was sitting up as he was driven to the locker room and walked into the building on his own.
Also missing practice were: WR Jarius Wright (concussion), FB Jerome Felton (appendectomy) and LT Matt Kalil (knee). Kalil is expected to practice Wednesday. Wright is day to day. And Felton is out until the regular season.
That's it. Although a link to a star tribute blog post. (which I just posted since not much to it)
Went from nothing at all to a minor procedure and no more pre-season.

"I don't like your sarcastic troll-ish tone" here, pal.
Oh wait. Only Demi gets in trouble for being obnoxious and sarcastic. I forgot. It's not a two-way street.
As far as Floyd, it's all good. He'll be back and tear it up in the regular season! I'm not too worried. I'd much rather have these little bumps and bruises happen now than later. All of the guys mentioned above should just rest up and get healthy for Game 1. Would have liked to see all of our starters (aside from Peterson) for a half against the Niners, but that's okay.

And I do not need all of your FUNKieness either lady, but then you just can't help yourself after all

Well, I can't take the Funk out of me...so you'll just have to manage.
As far as "not being able to help myself" you are truly one to talk. Try sticking to football at least half of the time, instead of all your attacks and complaints against the "cynics". I know it's your mission in life to be all rah rah rah about being the number one Vikings fan ever, but dude...
Anyways, our injuries are minor, but they seem to be piling up a little on us. That sucks. I hope we finish out the preseason injury free from here on out!

Big deal. There are 10 more days in the Vikings' preseason. The 4th game is on August 29th.

Ok, let's try to stay healthy from here on out...
Wright should be back real soon, feel bad for Felton - appendix won't listen to 'happen during off-season please'. Hope Floyd does like most young guys and heals completely and quickly.
Doesn't bother me so much during preseason, but the young kids do need the work. Can't risk the long term effects of not taking care of the short term problem though.

as a rule of thumb I try really hard to not get worked over stuff in which I don't have the slightest clue. this could be super serious. like an injury that will linger and keep him from playing all year. I have no idea. or, it could be very minor and as the preseason means little it's better to just let the guy rest. I have had "procedures" on my knees that required doctors and was playing that same day. I also had "procedures" that had me missing extensive time.
try to remember that while we're fans...even SUPER fans for some of us...we still have no idea what is taking place in those practices, meeting rooms, locker rooms, etc.
i'll be far more concerned if we learn this is serious and will keep him from action in the regular season.

An MRI showed no structural damage. According to Frazier it's nothing major and not arthroscopic. If you're concerned about injury, worry about Wright's concussion and Sullivan's knee. Mauti has also been experiencing soreness in his surgically-repaired knee.

or to go a step farther I don't worry about potential injuries at all. we'll have injuries this year. us and every other team in the league. with all of the other things a Viking fan could worry about this season there is no way I can add potential injuries to the list without going nuts.
