Wow, he would have been 77. Somehow, I just can't see it. Grant asked for $1 less than the highest paid coach in the NFL at the time. I don't think he honestly wanted to come back and coach.

"I would have come back," wrote Grant, who already had two stints as Vikings coach (1967-83 and 1985). Sounds like he wanted to come back to me.
There's also a difference between what he
wanted and what he would've accepted. Frankly, given his resume I think he would've warranted top-15 or top-10 head coaching $. YMMV

Like I say, I just can't see a 77 year old guy at head coach in the NFL. There's also a difference between what he would have done and what he says he would have done.
Marv Levy: Retired at the age of 72; tied with George Halas as the oldest head coach in NFL history.

And considering his age,
of course he wanted a lot of money.
Coaching an NFL team? Not an easy task for anyone, let alone for an
old man.
People that age are in relax mode!
I imagine millions of Vikings fans would have been freaking out though if he would have come back for even a year or two.

Let's start a campaign for the Vikings to have no heaters on the sidelines during their two years at TCF. We'll see how much Frazier can really emulate Bud.

He can already stand there expressionless with his arms crossed. He pretty much has it nailed.

I doubt he would have been fully involved though. Might have been a good thing if he hired a couple competent coordinators and just did his job on game day and now and then in practice.
Definitely upgrade over dopety dope.
Man it's nice to have Zygi, who might be a shyster, but at least he's more worried about the salary cap, and not the salary floor.
