Healthy Jared Allen ready for another run at sack record

Via Tom P. I had no idea Allen was so banged up last season. Here's hoping he's 100%

The doctors cut Jared Allen's biceps tendon, shaved down his AC joint and repaired the torn labrum. Then, they moved from his left shoulder to his right knee, repairing the meniscus. The stress fracture would have to heal on its own.
Allen knew he'd put it all off too long already. The Minnesota Vikings' standout pass rusher knew it each time he woke up in the middle of the night, each time he couldn't explode on an inside pass rush, each time the knee swelled until he finally gave up lifting weights last season.
"I wouldn't say it's a good experience, just because of the fact I hate surgery," Allen told USA TODAY Sports. "But I'll tell you what — this is the best I've felt in years."

Seriously though, as banged up as he was he still played very well. I hope he has another great year for us this season!

And I'll finally get that pony that I wanted back in 1965.

If ya gotta wish, wish big!
I love watching Allen play, he's got such a motor and skill set. I had no idea he was so banged up either.
Sheesh, can you imagine what these guys feel like when they hit 50? Heck, 40 is when I started falling apart and I'm no athlete!

That would mean the passing game hasn't taken any strides, and they would be nowhere near the Super Bowl. Takes balance for such goals.

Passing game is overrated. It's all evil media driven. We don't even need a QB to win the super bowl we can just run Flash at QB. I mean look at Webb last year. QB play is so overrated it's ridiculous.

I get the sarcasm, but it actually is overrated to an extent, that life has been made so easy for QBs. But that aspect has changed the game to where you really do need to put up some passing numbers.

I love Allen; the guy is such a fun loving guy who works his butt off on every play.
I don't think we will retain him after this year based on how the Vikings handled the Winfield
contract last season.

The situations are pretty different. Allen is years younger than Winfield. It will depend on his asking price, among other factors.
Remember, they wanted to keep Winfield. He was just making more than a player at his age and particular position was worth to the team under their (then) current cap circumstances.
