Who/what is Mike Wobschall?

I've come to realize that anything he says and reports about the Vikings is worthless? Does he work for the Vikings themselves?

Yes, he's employed by the team to (as he puts it) "be the fans' eye on the Vikings...providing daily written content regarding the Vikings on our website, vikings.com."

His stuff is always going to be overwhelmingly positive, which is fine. That's essentially his job. But he has access to stuff that other guys don't, which is where I find the value. Some nice feature-y stuff.

He is the ultimate homer and is employed by the Vikings directly. When Ponder was doing horribly last year he would defend him. He is a bonafide geek with terrible takes.

The guy looks like a nerd...lol Anyways I think he is in charge of the reports on the Vikings website. However my only problem with him is the lack of coverage the website has during the offseason. When I look on other NFL teams pages, they have tons of interviews, press, and highlights. We barely get any updated. All we get is text based reports of HIS opinion on how the team is doing in practice.

But I have to say he has to be either the most optimistic or in-denial fan I ever seen. The Vikings can go 0-16 and I bet he will defend ANY player you blame for hurting the team. I hope we find someone else to run the site. Mike is horrible. Did I mention he looks like a nerd?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who rips on this guy. If you e-mail him he will definitely reply to your question, but the problem is he doesn't give me any info that I already didn't know. For some reason he travels with the team and gets completely demoralized by the players (ex: Chad Greenway made fun of his sweater)

I should also mention a blind monkey could perform up to his level

I'll admit, the guy isn't going to be objective, nor is he going to have ground-breaking journalism. You guys can sit here and bash him all you want, but we all know anyone of us would kill to be in his position.

Journalism is not my forte, he have that job. Even as a fan, I dont want a job like that. He just need to have more video coverage on the website and less recycled written reports.

"Mike Wobschall is in his 6th season with the Vikings in 2010. His career began when he interned with the team as a senior at Gustavus Adolphus College. Following his initial internship, he was asked by the Vikings to stay on as a full-time intern following his graduation from Gustavus. His current full-time position was created and he was hired as a full-time employee. His job is to be the fans' eye on the Vikings...providing daily written content regarding the Vikings on his website, vikings.com. He is also the editor of several team publications, including game day programs and our yearbook".

I enjoy watching his interviews and updates (many have been posted here). Is he a homer, of course, that is what he is paid to be.

Recycled reports? He's not going to break news. He offers his opinion, such as it is, goes a bit more in depth with stuff due to his access (positive take, of course) and does interviews/podcasts. I'm not sure how much more content he can produce daily on his own. It's pretty clear he has a meager budget. Would be nice if the team could hire another, though (me, for example. I'll fight Kapp for the gig).

What I mean is like he may have one new update on a monday and threw tuesday- friday, he will make new blogs using the same info he already told us monday but wording it differently. If working on his own is the cause of the lack of media coverage either they need to give him help or hire somebody else. All these other teams have tons of videos for their off-season (I look on their website), why can't we?

And its also him who shut the Vikings.com message board down. Im guessing because there were no moderators and forum was pretty much dead after the offseason. If he would have listened to our suggestions, the forum would probably still be here. But that forum was a mess.

Luckily we have more OTA's today. So we will maybe see 2 or 3 one minute videos today. Unlike other teams who have 5-6 minute video coverages.
