Free agent cornerback Antoine Winfield is heading to Seattle.

Winfield told Josina Anderson of ESPN that he has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Seahawks.
Ooooh no.

Makes me upset, just not getting the whole Viking salary cap space. We have a 4 player pro bowl roster with the cap space of a team with the level of talent of the 49ers. Where is all our money? lol

Well, we have a quarter of our cap tied up in Adrian and Jared.

That explains it. These damn Seahawks though, nothing would make me happier than to send them home in the playoffs.

Hard for me to think of a silver lining -- except that we don't have the QB we need to win the Super Bowl, so we might as well develop younger talent who will be around when we do.

But still, I'm not happy about this at all. Leaving aside the fact that he was my favorite current Viking, this just creates one more gaping hole. We'll be plugging gaping holes in the draft, I suspect, rather than drafting the BPA. Hope I'm wrong, but that's my guess.

Anyway, thanks for the memories Antoine. You 'da man!

damn, my all time favorite player. he's at the end of his career & realistically, i hope he gets his ring. seattle is gobbling up all our best players. wtf. it's gonna be hard not to root for them this year.

I would have rather seen Kevin Williams cut, I think they had similar salaries. This is an eerie feeling, I mean our backfield has been so sad for years. we finally got to a point where i felt it was somewhat sustainable. seems like a huge leap backwards even considering his age. all the intangibles that dude did on the field was crazy. oh well i guess, i really don't expect much this coming season with harvin and now winfield gone.

Well said. Definitely weakens us for 2013 in a big way. Sad to me that he outperformed his injury reduced Contract in 2012 and was unceremoniously cut on a day he was working out at the team facility. It's a business but this was a bad business and terrible employee relations decision.

Hmmm, I dunno. I think that's something fans and the media like to bring up when discussing the two teams but I doubt the Seattle front office is still butthurt over us signing Hutch away from them like what, 8-9 years ago? I think the linkage between the two right now has more to do with Bevell being on the coaching staff. I bet ol' Pete Carroll is "freakin jacked up right now", or whatever it is he says. I guess he would be a fun coach to play for, but to anyone else he comes across as kinda phony

Seattle will be an interesting team to watch this year, that's for sure. I just don't see them winning a SB. The whole vibe of the team right now somewhat reminds me of the Jets a few years back. Great defense and running game with a promising young QB. Look how that all turned out...

Awww, sucks to hear that, but as soon as I heard Seattle was interested there was probably a 1% chance he'd come back to the Vikes. Unfortunately we couldn't afford more than 1-2 million and Toine deserves more than that, even at this stage in his career. Best of luck good sir!
