I re-watched the play, he could have made a play on the ball... if the year was 2003.

That was tough catch and being 35 doesn't help. Plus, not to mention, the ball was grossly overthrown.

I am disappointed Randy Moss didn't win a ring last night. If that was indeed his last game, I hope he signs a one day contract to retire as a VIking.

I agree, it would be great if he could retire as a Viking. Don't know if Randy himself realizes it, but Minnesota loves him more than anywhere else he's played. I've met very few Vikings fans who were fans back in those days who aren't Moss fans, at least for what he did on the field. Patriots fans were as happy to see him come as they were to see him go. Raiders fans couldn't have cared less. Titans fans probably don't even remember that he played for them for a few games. The Niners, probably not even close.

That said, I get the feeling that Randy would want to retire as a Patriot, and that the current Vikings organization has a pretty lukewarm connection to him at best.

Certainly, on Kaepernick's pick, he didn't even seem to jump. Sad way for an incredible career to finish if that is the case.

that pass was 10 feet over his head, he (nor any other receiver in history) could have made that catch. the 49ers simply didn't utilize his ability. how many times did he have one on one coverage, and they never even went to him (especially in the red zone). i was shocked on that last drive they didn't go to him, at 35 he can still get it done.

At this point, Moss is a shadow of his former self and defenses know it. They play him like an average receiver, not the huge threat he was in his prime, and they're clearly not overly concerned about matching up with him.

On Kaepernick's INT, the ball was clearly overthrown but Moss's effort was half-hearted. As Michael Irvin pointed out, he could have at least jumped up and made an effort to distract the defender. That said, I don't think it's a big deal. Ed Reed was probably going to catch that pass anyway.

I wouldn't want the Vikes to sign Moss to a one-day deal so he could retire a Viking. He provided some great thrills as a Vikings receiver but he doesn't deserve that honor, especially after the way he behaved during his last stint with the team.

I'm through rooting for the guy. His last stint as a Viking sealed the deal for me. Selfish, lazy and boorish is not a good way to go through life.

At least he doesn't intentionally line up wrong like TitusYoung. But, i could see he was disinterested in this Super Bowl.

My belief is that Moss loves the drama. He loves just saying controversial things once in a while to stir the pot and remind us he is around. He wears his celebrity like a mask, and I would not be surprised if the real guy is much different from what he shows to the media. His ability has tapered off dramatically, but, in any case, I am thrilled with the memories he left us as Vikings fans.

Looks like the server hosting that link is having issues so I can't read the article but I'm assuming it's talking about the TD pass to him. It looked like a poorly thrown ball or bad communication when I saw it live.

While Moss may seem a shell of his former self, you have to remember how good that former self was. To put it in perspective. Moss had 28 receptions for 434 yards. 15.5 yards per catch. His average YPC for his career, 15.5. He did slack off on TD's, having only 3. For a ratio of 1 td for every 9.3 catches. As compared to 1 TD for every 6.3 catches which is his career average.

Jerry Rice 1 td every 7.8 catches
Terrel Owens 1 td every 7.0 catches
Cris Carter 1 Td every 8.5 catches
Tony Gonzalez 1 td for every 12.0 catches
Marvin Harrison 1 td for every 8.6 catches.
Calvin Johnson 1 TD for every 9.0 catches
Anquan Bolden 1 td for every 13.3 catches
Larry Fitzgerald 1 td for every 9.9 catches

So what Randy has become is an average WR.

Jerry Rice went from a 1 to 7.1 ratio to 1 to 11.7 ratio after he was 35 years old. So it age slows everyone down.
