Well deserved. If we had a passing QB just imagine what his stats would be like!

Disclaimer: This is a tongue-in-cheek post.

Well deserved, a consisted red zone threat and a reliable 'get out of jail card' for Christian. Admittedly the spot came via default but it's nice to see some recognition, in any way, shape or form.

Ponder and Rudolph have a good chemistry and as a result of not having decent wide receivers then a lot of passes come Rudoph's way. The fact is that is a huge reason why he made the Pro Bowl..
So I am confussed by your post. You are saying that a better passer would enhance Rudolph's game.

6th. Peterson, Felton, Walsh, Allen, Greenway, and now Rudolph.

Its nice, but i kinda wish they would do away with the ProBowl.....football is a combat sport....every game could be your last one. Every meaningless play that AP runs, I will be holding my breath, praying that no one rolls up on his knee......They should just have a skills competition and leave it at that.

Peyton Manning implores Pro Bowl participants to play hard

There's just not enough incentive to risk injury.

I can see your point of view but seeing AP's willingness to embrace the game is something to behold, you can't quell his sense of competition. I have always liked the idea of the greatest players getting together and facing off, it's just a shame they could't have something riding on the end result, rather than irrelevant money.

What happened to Jimmy Graham? Injured or didn't get voted in?

They should make the headline more like this. Sorry, I'm a Rudolph fan, but to me he did not have a Pro Bowl year.
He didnt have a pro bowl year? He was tied for first in the NFC with 9 touchdowns that warrants a pro bowl ballot in my book.

I wondered the same thing. He wasn't voted in. Here are Graham and Rudolph's stats for the last two years.

Code: Select all

Player Season GP REC TGTS YDS AVG LNG TD FD FUM LST
Jimmy Graham 2011 16 99 149 1,310 13.2 59 11 74 1 1
Jimmy Graham 2012 15 85 135 982 11.6 46 9 59 1 0
Kyle Rudolph 2011 15 26 39 249 9.6 41 3 14 0 0
Kyle Rudolph 2012 16 53 93 493 9.3 29 9 34 0 0
By those stats Rudolph's selection makes no sense. Graham had 32 more receptions and 500 more yards.

But it's the Pro Bowl. The only thing more phony than the game itself is the player selection.

I don't know, maybe it's the fact that he never had more than 70 yds receiving in one game this year, or that there were 3 games where he had 0 catches, it just doesn't warrant pro bowler to me. Now next year though...I am predicting great things.
Come on. He was handicapped by a bad QB! :D

Saints tight end Jimmy Graham is an alternate as well, but it's never been made clear by the Saints or Graham if he is the first alternate at tight end for the NFC. If he is the first alternate, Graham would be named to the Pro Bowl if the Falcons win Sunday as Tony Gonzalez would skip Hawaii and come to New Orleans.

But Graham may not play in the Pro Bowl even if he's named to the roster because of his lingering wrist injury that plagued him throughout the 2012 season.
There was discussion that Graham might have surgery on his wrist after the season so maybe that's why he isn't in the Pro Bowl and Rudolph got the nod instead.

Look I am a life long Viking fan and a life long NFL fan. To me Rudolph doesn't have the numbers to be a pro bowler... sorry but it is just my opinion.

I'm not sure to what degree, but blocking is another factor that you can't see by stats alone. Last I read he was improving on this area and it's becoming a strength.
