If SF releases Alex Smith, I wouldn't be surprised to see Spie,man/Frasier go after him. Otherwise, I think we are stuck with Ponder.

I think Ponder will be the starter when the season begins. I'm not so sure if he'll be starting when it ends..

Ponder. I think management has made it clear that he is our guy and they are going to stick with him. This is only his first full year as a starter, so I would like to see him be the starter next year to learn from his mistakes. However, it is a risk because if he doesn't improve, we're going to be stuck with him the whole year. But I think it is a risk worth taking. Maybe if we pick up a couple decent WR's it will make him better as well.

Ponder. Let's delay development of a competent QB another year. Then maybe we can trust this front office to do it again, and a decade from now we'll be starting Foles as our stop gap veteran. While still drying to find a franchise QB.

Hopefully they at least have the sense to spend a midround pick on a guy if there's one there (BMA for this front office...best midget available. Over 6'2 need not apply...unless you're a wide receiver pretending to be a QB)

I agree. Ponder will start the season but this time with a short leash.

I also fully expect the Vikings to pick up both QB and WR help from the draft and/or free agency before next season begins.

That is a great point. I've been saying all year that ponder will start next year but we need a backup plan. I agree with that philosophy 100%

It's going to be Ponder, but I'm also in that camp that thinks he's going to be on a short leash. I see us bringing in a WR or 2 to give Ponder the best possible chance to succeed, but I also think we're going to bring in an experienced QB who can step in should Ponder not get his act together. I just hope it's not Sage for a 3rd time lol.

Ponder is a disaster. Tarvaris jackson was better !!! Hope niners let alex smith go.
Vikings would have at least 10 wins with a decent qb.

Until the WR situation is fixed I don't see any quarterback doing anything here. Aikman said it best during the Green Bay game. The WRs are never open and Joe Montana couldn't throw to them.

He also pointed out more than once when receivers were open or Ponder didn't even look beyond Rudolph.

Ponder of course. This is his 2nd year and he is making progress. We gotta give the kid some time to develop. So I am picking Ponder.

Ponder will be the starter most likely but his time to improve or move on is fast approaching. I am hopefull that they will shore up the pass protection and bring in some decent receivers.

The organization isnt going to give up on Ponder quite yet. They will build around him (WR, OG) and give him what he needs to succeed. If he still cant, then they will go in another direction
