All in the Family

This was one of my favorite sit-coms growing up. I recently rented all of the seasons from Netflix and love it as much as I did when I saw it growing up.
Does anyone think that show would make it in today's politically correct day and age? Archie the bigot, Mike the flaming liberal, Lionel who liked to instigate Archie, Edith, who took all of Archie's crap in stride and came across as a dingbat but was a lot smarter than the show let on, and, of course, Gloria, whose purpose I haven't figured out.
The last episode I saw was where the Jeffersons moved in without Archie knowing and Lionel had stopped by for their drycleaniing. Archie had heard there was a "colored" family moving in next door and told Lionel (now knowing it was Lionel's family) how unhappy they'd be without any rib, chicken and some other kind of foot joints around. He also made a comment about "blacks" moving in next door "And the next thing you know, watermelons rings are flying everywhere."
Who thinks they'd dare to write a show like that today?
