Women's Frozen Four

The WCHA still rules women's college hockey, as three teams are head for the Frozen Four. Wisconsin, Minnesota and defending champion Minnesota- Duluth (who have combined to win every NCAA-sanctioned National Championship) are headed to Boston to play for the national title. The lone eastern team is Mercyhurst.
Minnesota needs to beat Mercyhurst to guarantee that a WCHA team will once again win the National Championship, but it shouldn't be a problem.

Yes!
I never root for the Gopher hockey teams, even if they're the only WCHA team playing. Stems from my attending games during the magnificent years when the Dogs played in the Frozen Four three consecutive years in the 80s. The hockey teams are the only Gopher teams I will not root for. They always thought they were better than us because they were the 'Main U'. Bah!
However, I will be rooting for the Gophs to win their first game this weekend, just to guarantee an all-WCHA final. I suppose I have a thing about showing up the East more than I hate the Gophers.

It'll be Wisconsin against Mercyhurst. The reputation of the WCHA rests in the Badgers' hands.

Jeez, both Gopher teams stunk it up this season. The men underachieved as much as the Twins overachieve.

And it was U-M-D that beat Minnesota on the men's side.
Still, the Gophers will make the NCAAs, so their season is not over.

U think they will make the NCAAs? I'm not sure. They really had a bad year (at least as far as U Mens hocky goes). I'm not confident they will make it.

Looking at the most recent Pairwise rankings, I think you're probably right. The Gophers are ranked tied for 15th, with Ohio State and Wisconsin. One of those teams will not make it to the NCAAs. And, of course, it will depend on whether any of the leagues are still finishing playoffs today.
On the bright side, UMD moved up to a tie for 6th!
