Soul legend Isaac Hayes dies

Soul singer and arranger Isaac Hayes, who won Grammy awards and an Oscar for the theme from the 1971 action film "Shaft," has died, sheriff's officials in Memphis, Tennessee, reported Sunday.
Relatives found Hayes, 65, unconscious in his home next to a still-running treadmill, said Steve Shular, a spokesman for the Shelby County Sheriff's Department.
Paramedics attempted to revive him and took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 2 p.m., the sheriff's department said.

Always liked his music. I may even have a copy of "Hot Buttered Soul" floating around here somewhere in LP form. I will miss him and his great hair cut.

I'm too young to know his music, and never sought it out.
All I remember him as is Chef.
His salty chocolate balls will be missed.

RIP... I liked a lot of his songs and do have the LP you're taling about Mike, but I know where it is.
It's where the kids can't get it.... what's with kids wanting our "old folk's" music.
Hayes had a place, a big place IMO, in soul music and he'll be missed.

I don't have any of his music, but the 'Shaft' theme is iconic.

He was found near his treadmill, so I'd assume the cause was massive heart attack.
