We have been put on mandatory 60 hour weeks for the month of February...

There was tons of miscalculations and miscommunications and "we slowed down" (as in, we are not making parts fast enough, which I don't totally buy) and as a result we are $900,000 in the hole after one month.

I was hoping to wake up this morning and find out it was all a dream... but alas, it was not.

France has a mandatory 35 hour work week and five weeks of vacation.

Any overtime must be applied to more paid vacation.

I bet that doesn't make you feel better though.

Just think about the $$$, 20 hours of overtime for time and a half. That'll add up pretty quick.

The irony is that capitalist France and Germany have short work weeks, mandatory vacation, and regulated work hours and shop times, while communist China has sweat shops, twelve hour work days six days a week, and huge child labor problems. The big difference is having strong unions and the ability to vote out the government. Socialism without democracy does not work.

I feel for you my man. I just finished up 2 years of 5AM-5PM and 7 hours on Saturdays. I got sick of it to the point I didn't care about anything. Sure, the money is great but at 55 years old now, I spend a lot of time trying to recover each evening and the extra money doesn't mean that much to me. Not that I can't use it, but you are so burned out most of the time you could care less.

Yeah. My mom said, Oh good! Extra money!! I wanted to slap her and remind her that I get up at 4 am and get home around 5pm.
