I think that gives you a good idea of what they think of him - he's a coverage safety, and not a great one at that - honestly, I don't see him as being much (if any) of an upgrade over Blanton in coverage. And Blanton has played in the box a whole lot more.

I like Robert a lot, but Rahim Moore is a better player in my eyes. And for only 12 million dollars for a 25/26 year old player? That is a steal.

He told me you are describing the old 'grizzle' test, which determines how grizzly a guy is based on the long held belief that chest hair determines some inner quality of manhood and potential for valor. Evidently, because of advances in analytical science, that sentiment has gone the way of the flat earth theory.

The 'Gristle Test', named after the mysterious stuff you find in meat that resists all attempts at mastification, determines a prospects 'rubbery tougness'.
They test for it in 2 specific ways:

1) They bend each of the prospects major joints in the wrong direction to the point he can no longer bear it and measure the degree attained. (that's where the calipers are used) That is follwed by measuring the rate at which it snaps back upon being released.

2) They drop the prospect from 3 specific heights above the field (artificial turf is preferred for basic continuity) and measure how high he bounces.

All these numbers are then plugged into a complicated formula for the final 1-100 computation. The actual formula is trade secret.

I agree with DP. And I havent been a fan of Robo in a fews years. I think he would be great though subbing in and out. Even if they dont get DE Johnson from TB. Johnson was a big under-achiever.

No to Sproles or Bowe. Bowe is lazy and Sproles just isn't worth it at this point in his career.

A DE rotation of Griffen, Michael Johnson and Robison would be nice. Combine that with Joseph, Floyd and Tom Johnson on the inside, and we have a really nice D-line. That's not even taking into account Scott Crichton and Shamar Stephen, who will both hopefully be improved from last year.

At this point, I hope we can hang onto Peterson and use our 1st Rd pick on either defense (LB or CB) or Amari Cooper. I still have massive concerns over our OG and SS positions, though. It wouldn't surprise me to see us take the Iowa OT and play him inside next year.

I'd still like to go CB in the first round. A strong D-line and secondary could really make Barr and our other LBs look good.

Maybe - I admittedly didn't know a ton about Moore until this process started. I have, over the last few days, watched a good amount of him, and came away unimpressed. I just don't see a distinct difference between the two players in coverage, and Moore almost never played close to the line of scrimmage. His physicality leaves a lot to be desired, IMO. I just think Zimmer likes his safeties more well rounded than Moore is.

As far as the price tag and age being a steal, you may be right, but Captain Munnerlyn was a 3 year, 11,250,000 signing last off season, at 25 years old. I'm sure there are a lot of people who would prefer we hadn't signed him after the way he played last year. He's still got a chance to bounce back, obviously, but these things don't work out nearly as well or as often as one would like.

My biggest issue with free agency - it's really difficult to project a player from one team to another. There are so many variables that play into it - heck, beyond the football aspect, there are environmental factors to consider. The teams that are successful year in and year out stock pile draft picks, and they pick their spots very carefully when delving into UFA.
