Some good film study here on Gordon (and Cooper): http://mattwaldmanrsp.com/2014/09/12/rs ... ri-cooper/

Waldman sees him (Gordon) as a second-rounder (a couple of knocks: not breakaway speed, not great functional strength. Pros: quickness, footwork, vision)

Highly doubt that. The running game is fine with Mckinnon and a later round selection of a running back. Assiata is a beast on short yardage and goal line plays.

A.P. has already stated he would restructure his deal to play in
certain places. I know he wanted the cowboys badly, for a long
time.

I don't think that mckinnon is the answer at running back. He is a good change of pace back/3rd down back. And with a back like Gordon or Gurley, Asiatas role becomes very small.

Just currious as to why you believe that? From what we have all seen and for just his first year he seems very capable of filling that role. No he is not AD (who is) but I do not want them to spend a 1st round pick on a RB, especially Gurley who is coming back from a questionable recovery from his injury.
As I stated, maybe take a RB in the later rounds.

I have never seen a direct quote indicating this.

I don't think ADs current contract would work anywhere outside of Minny and he would be required to restructure anywhere he went. Seems to me that his willingness to do so was included in his asking to be released.

It will be interesting on draft day. If the Vikes wind up snagging 1 of the 2 OLinemen at #11 and one of the top RBs is still around in the late first or top of the 2nd...maybe they pull the trigger on a 2nd and later rd pick for AD.
I think McKinnon is being a tad undersold here and would hope they plug in defensive players (after O-line) at the top of the draft.

Either way it's shaping up to be a somewhat divisive draft for the fans. Lots of directions it could go.

The best part of this draft is its the first one in a few years where we aren't saying "THIS position HAS to be upgraded". We have quite a few positions where it would be great to have better players, but there isn't a single position group that I'm dreading heading into the season with...except MLB, which unfortunately doesn't look strong in this draft, anyways.

Yea, you guys look like you have a pretty solid roster going into this year.

Im curious though, as to what most Vikes fans think their biggest need is going into the draft?

My bad if this isnt a great thread to ask this in.

It's way different for a change. Maybe it will become a trend for a few years with such a young team.

I think it could get pretty ugly if they head into this season without adding more talent at guard.

Personally, I think they're heading into the draft with a clear need to upgrade at several positions

Left guard. We don't have ANYONE to play there.
A couple linebacker spots are big question marks.
Left end is pretty average and getting even more so.
A corner other than Rhodes
And strong safety although Blanton looked solid, I can't remember having seen anyone give up more yards while being tackled. He's a converted corner right? Maybe he'll improve in that area. but if not it's just ugly.

Agreed. Need help on OL and secondary. Must keep Teddy upright and NFCN passing QBs honest.

I think the best part of this year's draft is that the QB position is set. When was the last time the majority was comfortable with the starting QB?
