his issues were more "on the field" though, similar to Percy Harvin. He wasn't kicked off the team for drugs or an arrest, it was for his constant fighting with the coaching staff, and there are rumors (although they have been denied) that it even went as far as Peters choking one of his coaches at practice.
As far as being a better corner, or a better NFL "fit", I don't necessarily agree with that. I think they are both extremely talented kids with different skill sets, and I think you're highly underplaying how good Trae Waynes was in college.

I agree Saint, it would be refreshing for some fans to get their information straight at least once in a while. Of course the scouts, coaches, and GM that do these "things" for a living and decided that Trae Waynes is the better corner to fit in Zimms system but that matters little. It also matters little that most of the "experts" gave the Vikes kudos for drafting him.
Yeah, him instead of Parker seemed wise since they spent lot's of money on Wallace who has already proven himself to be a very good/excellent deep threat so let's have them spend a 1st round pick on another wide receiver instead of getting the top corner in the draft

After watching this team suck at defending the pass, in great part because of a weak secondary, for so many years, I am very excited to have so much talent at the CB and S positions. I am also feeling A LOT better about our LB crew. The fact that Waynes seems like a very high character guy and that Kendricks is smart and tight w/ Barr, who also seems like a stand up kid... well it seems like smart moves to me. A team I can get behind!

I don't think zimmer is going to take Waynes at 11 if he doesn't believe he can't be shut down for him.
Both were on the board and he took Waynes.
If Frazier was still the coach I would question it, but I trust zimmer's eye for defense. Look what he did for Rhodes when there were some proclaiming he was a bust before the new regime.

It'll be interesting to see what this means for Josh Robinson. The last time he moved inside things didn't go very well. I think he either has to learn to do it or find another team to play for. It'll be interesting to watch unfold. I like Robinson and he really improved last year. Be a bit of a shame to see the investment in him go by the wayside.

I still think he'll be depth on the outside. Plan B for me is to try him at safety. His speed would come in handy there, he has some ball skills and he's aggressive. IMO he has more of a chance to stick there than in the slot, where he's a huge liability.

I think he'll have to learn the slot since he isn't a starter, but mostly I think he's a major depth player. If Waynes isn't ready and Newman isn't capable of starting (or needs a breather) then we insert Josh Robinson.
If Jabari Price is on the roster, he would be more likely to fill in for Captain in he slot, IMO.
If Jabari Price isn't on the roster and Captain goes down, we're in trouble unless Robinson plays slot in this defense a lot better than he did in Frazier's D.
Also, is this finally the year Marcus Sherels doesn't break the roster?

And if you actually took the time to read up on Peters instead of making assumptions you'd really realize how much of an idiot he is. Constantly argued with coaches, teammates, never thought he was wrong, was kicked off the team, etc. but yeah let's draft him
And you sit there saying Rhodes and Waynes can't get INTs...... Just because they don't light up the stat sheet doesn't mean they are bad CBs. You saw that with Rhodes this year. And just because guys get more interceptions doesn't mean they are good either. Gerod Holliman from Louisville led all of college football in INTs by a long shot with 14 and wasn't drafted until the 7th round. Josh Robinson was 2nd on our team in INTs with 3.....does that mean he's good?
Rhodes was hands down our best CB because he wasn't giving up big plays and was top 10 in the league in pass breakups. Bottom line is, you don't need to get INTs to be a good CB.
Here's a fun fact..... Josh Robinson had 1 more INT that Darrelle Revis and 1 less INT than Richard Sherman. What does that tell you? But yeah let's keep critiquing Rhodes and Waynes because they "don't get INTs"

I don't know. Can you keep a backup CB without the versatility to fill in inside or outside? Robinson's in a tough spot.

Absolutely. Newman isn't going to play the slot either. There are lots of corners in the league that don't have position versatility, though being able to contribute as a safety would remedy that a bit. Does Robinson play on special teams? Regardless, I'm not giving up on Robinson just yet. I maintain he didn't have as bad of a year as some think outside of a couple of games.

I thought he had a pretty good year, although he had a terrible game @ Chicago. Zimmer's comment that we won't see the team drafting any 5' 9" corners was ominous though. I know Robinson's a little taller than that but I'm guessing he will be headed elsewhere when his contract is up after this season.

Convert him to Left Guard. Problem solved.

Thank you, that was very informative. Hopefully certain members will view this and not feel the need to have a 1000 posts saying the same thing "Waynes sucks and Ricky should have drafted Parker"
