Still out there. Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Saints are offering hiim more than $5 million per year. Was supposed to visit the Redskins next.

By the way, as long as I'm venting... close to what situation? The "Johnson used to play for Zimmer" situation"? The "Vikings might sign Johnson" situation? How is this person close to the situation?

Because the source is anonymous, a statement like that has no more credibility or relevance than if one of us posted it! what qualifies this source to make that kind of judgment and makes it their view newsworthy?

The rampant use of anonymous sources for almost everything in NFL journalism has become laughable, especially when so much of the info provided from such sources proves unreliable.

Probably. Rarely do you get anyone to speak on the record anymore, especially NFL executives.

Given the way it was written I think they're simply talking about Johnson's release/availability.

It's probably someone within an NFL front office that wishes to remain anonymous. The reporters grant them anonymity to keep them as a source for information. Heck, even Schefter or Mort don't use names. They all just quote "sources" unless it's a press conference or other public event.
