Re: Peterson plea deal...
I don't know that he needed to add the "of which there are many" line but it sounds like AD needs to be a very good boy for the next while. Hopefully he will be able to succeed and put this mess behind him.dead_poet wrote:Montgomery County District Judge Sets 17 Conditions on Adrian Peterson

Re: Peterson plea deal...
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/12290 ... advisement
My favorite part:MINNEAPOLIS -- Saying he felt like "I got a fair hearing, for once," Adrian Peterson emerged from a federal courtroom Friday afternoon after a federal judge said he would take the NFL Players Association's lawsuit to get him reinstated under advisement.
U.S. District Judge David Doty heard arguments from NFLPA attorney Jeffrey Kessler and NFL attorney Daniel Nash on Friday afternoon, in a courtroom where many of the NFL's pivotal labor battles have played out over the last 20 years.
On Friday, the union argued NFL commissioner Roger Goodell acted outside his authority in November, when he suspended Peterson until at least April 15 for disciplining his 4-year-old son with a switch last May. Arbitrator Harold Henderson, a longtime NFL executive whom the union argued was biased in favor of the league, upheld Peterson's suspension Dec. 12.
More at the link. When he was asked if he wants to return to the Vikings next season, Peterson said, "Of course."

So... if he's in Vegas, and gambling is against the law in Texas...article wrote: Commit no offense against the laws of Texas or any other state
The way that's written is he needs to know the laws of all 50 states and adhere to them regardless of where he is. Doubt that is what is meant, but one can read it that way

Adrian Peterson - RB - Vikings
Adrian Peterson has been undergoing psychological counseling, and hopes it will help his reinstatement bid.
According to reporter Brian Murphy, Peterson has been undergoing four months of psychological counseling and parenting supervision. "He is doing what he’s supposed to do, and we’re hopeful once that has been completed he will be able to go back to playing," were the words of Peterson's attorney. Currently suing the league, Peterson can't be reinstated before April 15, but is angling for a March return. If released, a March return would allow Peterson to find a new team before clubs are finished with their big spending in free agency.

So, is this last line editorializing / speculating, or does the write KNOW something?

Re: Peterson plea deal...
I'd say it's almost certainly the former. I don't think anybody in the media knows what the Vikings are planning to do. That line is just following the logical line of reasoning...PsyDanny wrote:

Re: Peterson plea deal...
I don't think it's speculation, it just seems logical to me. The team has said they want Peterson back but not at what price. Coming back at the beginning of free agency gives Peterson the best chance to make the most money as it puts him in a stronger position to negotiate with the Vikings if other teams haven't spent their cap space yet and If they can't agree he has a better chance of getting on with one of them.Mothman wrote: I'd say it's almost certainly the former. At this point it seems the longer he is suspended the better chance he'll be a Viking next year.
