A statement like that should be the last straw for the Wilfs. Start lining up suitors. The hell with Minnesota.

Wilf has been half assing it as well. Seems day to day they were adjusting and coming up with solutions to problems that should have been addressed...well when he bought the team! Instead it's a bunch of Minneapolis vs. Adren Hills. The Governor has already said he's pro-stadium...pretty sad when the Vikings don't even have a legitimate plan together by this point...
(And don't forget adding 300 million to what they need when they decided to push the Arden Hills deal knowing full well the road improvements were needed and the state wasn't going to pay...)

Looks like little more than political chest beating to me, but everyone is free to form their own opinion based on what the governor tells them. I didn't see anyone here claiming the proposal wasn't legitimate. Does "legitimate" simply mean that it has to cost the state less money?
If I were the Wilfs, I'd hold a press conference tomorrow telling everyone that there will be no more proposals. And if I were pissed off enough, I'd also take this one off the table and state in no uncertain terms that the Vikings will no longer be playing in the state of Minnesota. #### them. It's over.

And what city is going to want to bring in a team owned by such a brutal guy?

Legitimate meaning they have a plan for how it's going to be paid for, and it fits within what the State is willing to pay. They said how much they'd pay early on. And the next thing you know 300+ million worth or road improvements need to be paid that no one is willing to pay for? How much is Ramsey County willing to pay and do they have the funding ready to go if the State passes the 400~ million they said they were willing to pay early on? The Vikings portion? The NFL? The roads? Sounds like there's nothing concrete from ANY side.

You know nothing of the history of the NFL if you think that makes one bit of difference. Zygi could very likely sell today to the likes of Ed Roski and make a profit.

That sir is my greatest fear. Then people will realize just what the Vikings meant in terms of money and love of this state. Im so GD sick of politics right now i could puke.

The vikings have been very up front with their position reguarding a new stadium. They have attempted to address it for the last couple of years and each and every attempt has been met with nothing more than false promises by those in local and state government. The future of this team and its lengthy relationship with the people of MN is at hand RIGHT NOW and unfortunately because of the lack of insite by our policians (who are too friggin busy getting reelected) this will end up being the year the Vikings ship takes sail and ends up in L.A.
Its unbelievable to me that the morons at the state capitol are going to simply sit on their hands and allow a business that brings multi millions of dollars a year into the state (and has done so for the last 50 years) to simply pull up their anchor and sail away. I wonder what they would be doing if this were Northwest Airlines threatening to leave, oh wait a minute they all ready did that.
Its going to be really difficult to watch the team this year knowing it will be their last one here.

good post. I agree too, their only hope now is a Special Session. I wonder how many people will get reelected after the team is in LA?

Does anybody know if there's been talk of maybe extending the lease on the Metrodome for maybe another year or something?
I know there's never a "good" time to do this kind of thing ... but right now seems a phenomenally bad one for Minnesota. Why can't they just extend the time in the Metrodome a little bit to get this worked out? They just put a new roof on the thing ... it's not like it'll be torn down in a year or anything.

From what I've heard, that's not something Wilf wants to do. I'm not sure you can even renew a lease on the dome for only one year either. Plus, I'm not sure he wants to set that precedent. I look at that as the ultimate last resort, and even then he might sell before going that route.

Vikings stadium: NFL loans should remain
Thursday morning, Minnesota Vikings officials attended a committee meeting to hear progress on Metrodome repairs. They learned the stadium turf will be replaced at a cost of $476,000 and that the project will be finished in time for an open house Aug. 20, a week before their first preseason game is scheduled.
A thousand miles away, both literally and figuratively, NFL owners were debating the terms of a collective bargaining agreement (CBA) that will play a substantial role in the future of pro football in Minnesota. Specifically: Will the CBA include the construction loan program the Vikings have been counting on throughout their decade-long fight for a new stadium?
Early reports, including one from Tim Kawakami of the San Jose Mercury News, suggest the CBA will designate three markets that would be eligible for an undefined loan program. Given the progress they've made to this point, it's reasonable to assume the Vikings will win one of those slots. Other candidates include the Bay Area, Los Angeles and Jacksonville.
Keep in mind that CBA negotiations aren't complete. It's conceivable that anything could be added or removed at any point. But there are enough stadium issues around the league to justify the continuation of a loan program.
At one point, the Vikings were counting on up to $150 million in an NFL loan, equal to roughly 15 percent of the announced cost of their $1.057 billion proposal in suburban Arden Hills. Under the G-3 program, loans were repaid from the visitors' share of club seat revenues in the new stadium.
I'm not sure if an NFL loan is a make-it-or-break-it issue in the Vikings' stadium talks, and I don't think Gov. Mark Dayton was referring to it when he said this week that their current proposal was "incomplete and unsatisfactory." But it is a long-assumed piece of the puzzle that seemed in jeopardy as NFL owners and players haggled over the CBA this offseason. The Vikings are crossing their fingers it will survive the final CBA votes.

Loans? To be paid back by whom? I thought the NFL had pledged grant money.

Even if Zygi has no intention of moving or selling, it does not benefit him one iota to agree to such an extension, as all that does is put off another year the actual crisis.
Don't forget, it took a judge placing an injunction on contraction to get the Twins a deal. We're still months away from that point with the Vikings.
