I thought the same thing. It's like an inside joke between Floyd and us, the fans. I can't stop laughing every time I see it.
I love how he holds the ball out with extended arm for dramatic effect... wait for it... wait for it... then drops it, as one of his teammates, oblivious to the whole deal, has to walk around the show.
