Just going to end this one by saying if I was a GB fan, I'd have ill feelings against Moss too. The guy did have some of his best games against the Packers.

And this has nothing to do with his other issues. It has to do with a Packer fan posting in a Vikings forum and calling a mooning gesture the most disgusting thing he's ever seen on TV.

But its ok, get all huffed up and defensive if you like, there are plenty of great Vikings fans that can rationally discuss things like grown adults, without making crap up as you just did.

Oh forgive my classlessness for think thinking rubbing your opponents nose in your success is unnacceptable. I think this has very little to do with any fan allegiance, and everything to do with sportsmanship. If I was a Viking fan would I think the same as I do now? Yup, and im sure there are plenty Vikes fans out there who agree.

As I said, I commend Randy on his impact in this girls life, and I really am sorry for running this thread off course a little bit, but im hardly the only one. Have I been rubbing my proverbial #### on the goalpost? Not quite.

You have said that the fake moon was one of the most classless acts of sportsmanship but you ignore acts far worse like cheating, late hits, fights, and actually getting into it with the fans. In all honesty, this isn't even the most unsportsmanlike thing he did. Its not even the worst from that season...walking off the field early two weeks earlier was much worse. But that affected our team, not yours, so I can see why you don't consider it that way.

To me, it comes across like you were a young fan when the game was played and it really hurt your feelings. Honestly, I get it. I was on the other side of things and it was the last happy memory I have of Randy as a Viking. Unfortunately, it's hard to take your opinion too seriously on this subject when you completely overstate the situation like I pointed out above. You're entitled to your opinion, of course, but I'm thoroughly convinced that you're completely wrong about how you would feel about this if you weren't a Packers fan. I'm pretty sure if you polled fans from around the league and asked what the worst moments of sportsmanship in league history are, this would not make the list. That's not to say that this was good sportsmanship (although, a bit funny to a lot of Vikings fans) but it certainly wasn't an all time low moment for the league.

The funny thing about this thread is it is quintessential Randy Moss. The guy did something great and instead of just appreciating the awesome thing he did we're discussing why he did something else.

Ok, Breeze, I apologize for the thread jacking, wasnt my intentions, and if anything I said rubbed anyone the wrong way, i am truly sorry, as that also was not my intention. My opinion has been shared, and yours have been heard, i doubt squabbling will make anyones opinions sway one way or the other.

I never ignored cheating and late hits, i even mentioned Charles Martin, who did way worse then anything Randy EVER did. But i feel personally that purposeful injury and cheating goes a little bit beyond the realm of poor sportsmanship, and is actually quite morally repugnant. Either way, rubbing opposing fans noses in victory on national television is quite unprecedented, and I disagree entirely with your poll assesment, but ive stated my thoughts on that plenty in this thread.

BTW, I DID remember Moss walking off the feild and I agree that was worse, but I was not trying to pile it on. That had not come up and i thought it distasteful for me to personally bring it up.

Unprecedented? That's revisionist history. Read about the ancient Greek Olympics for some great stories about rubbing fans' noses in one's victory! Sure, it wasn't televised, but I don't think the cameras would've stopped them! Though I am too lazy to search, I feel quite certain that Randy's gesture wasn't the first engagement between player and fans in the NFL of this sort. In the NBA just think of Ron Artest's fight with fans (granted, 2004 which is 6 years after Randy's moon), but still, I suspect there are plenty of references of players throwing victory in fans' faces in the NBA prior to 1998. The NHL is chalk full of this sort of interaction. Even College BB has it (see Christian Laettner). If you were a bit more measured in your language I think you'd catch less resistance here.

People are entitled to their opinion and it's not only a Packer's fan who isn't happy with what Moss did.

No kidding. It was a pretend mooning. With how some people talk about it, someone who hadn't seen it would think he must have actually dropped his pants. The whole thing would be funnier IMO if he had. At least made it worth the effort for people that still get upset about it.

moss mooning the green bay fans in lambeau one on of my favorite viking moments of all time. the way i see it, the world takes things too serious anymore. have a freaking sense of humor. sportsmanship? you have coaches that refuse to shake hands after games, players who beat women every other week, and we currently have a running back who whipped his child with a branch. randy moss fake mooned the crowd (a crowd that disrespected him a few months earlier when he had an injury), squirted a water bottle at a ref, bumped a traffic officer, and walked off the field a tad early. i was at the game and actually loved that act too. when asked why he did it, he once said something along the lines of, "you weren't at practice all week when all of the guys were goofing off and not taking the redskin's seriously. so, if they don't care why should i? its a team sport and its always about me." the minnesota vikings will never have such a polarizing, dynamic, and enigmatic athlete again. no one brought you that adrenalin rush when you knew the qb took a deep drop back and it didn't matter who it was (cunningham, johnson, george, culpepper, ferotte) and moss was already down field, most likely behind the entire defense. i'll never forget those sundays because they were the most exciting since the year favre came. he brought that type of excitement. one could argue peterson has been as exciting; but his behavior towards this organization has been utterly disgraceful. i'm not sure why anyone would ever want him back.

IMO, maybe was not the best choice, but I am sure deep down Randy Moss is a lot better person, than some of the
players currently on a lot of teams. He is far removed from the league and takes time to help sick kids; to me
that gives him some breathing room for a long past incident, during a game.

The meter maid incident I thought was much worse IMO.
