what failure of Locke? He was league average as a rookie. Not a screaming success, but far from a failure

How is Locke a failure

He was a rookie and has a very strong accurate leg. Geez give him a chance. I will ad to what Saint said that Ray Guy was taken in the first round.

Then we get a new staff, and they aren't good enough. We couldn't get Bill Belicheck and his staff because he's pretty secure where he is.
I don't know what you all want. I can't believe some of you are complaining after the years we have been through. Everything is brand new, which is something we ALL wanted. Be happy that we don't have to worry about Chili Ball or Cover-2 anymore and wait and see what happens before you jump off the cliff.
I think what's lost is just how good a staff a first time coach - Zimmer - put together.

If you thought that was bad you must have REALLY hated him when Kluwe was screwing up on every other frigging punt right?

That's on Spielman. A frigging 5th round pick for a barely average punter. With no leg at all.

Yeah, I certainly wouldn't call Locke a failure. At worst, a wasted draft pick, but he looks good enough to hold the job for a couple of years.

You mean when they starting asking him to directionally kick, which he wasn't terribly effective at? And people tore Childress to pieces about it, when it's clear now that was on Priefer...

No, it was on Kluwe. Other kickers can do it. They have one job to do. Kluwe couldn't do it, even when Priefer repeatedly asked him and im sure talked to him about it. If it was Priefers fault, why is he still working and Kluwe is firing up bogus lawsuits after being told by every NFL team in the NFL?

Oh really? Which years are you talking about? Was Priefer to blame for Chilly getting torn to pieces in 06-08 when Priefer was with the Chiefs? Or was it when he was employed by the Broncos in 2009 and 2010?

I think keeping Priefer on was a good move. He was and still is one of the better special teams coaches in the NFL.

Agreed. It sure looked like a good move on Sunday, didn't it?

Exactly! That's what got me thinking about it, but honestly, special teams has been a strength all year, IMO. The kick returns aren't there like they were last year, but we're still in the upper half of the league overall in punt/kick return average. Not to mention, the kick/punt coverage units have been fantastic.
