It's funny that he's "shocked and disappointed" when they're clearing room to pay HIM.

Michael Bennett - DL - Seahawks

Seahawks re-signed DE Michael Bennett to a four-year, $34 million contract.

He chose to stay with the Super Bowl champs over the Bears, who were reportedly offering more money. Bennett, 28, "started" only three games in 2013 with Seattle, but racked up 8.5 sacks and a forced fumble while playing both defensive end and tackle, primarily operating as a sub-package pass rusher. He's not an every-down player, but the Seahawks are big believers in "wave" rotations up front, and Bennett's versatility is critical in their philosophy. The Bears may now attempt to make a late run at free agents Michael Johnson and Lamarr Houston, the top remaining available defensive ends.

Seems free agent FS Jairus Byrd's price is already coming down. Initially said to be seeking $9M per year, now reports say $8M annually.

Steve Smith - WR - Panthers

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports the Panthers are "attempting to trade" Steve Smith.

In other words, Smith will likely be cut if a trade partner can't be found. Considering that Smith turns 35 in May and is due $7 million in 2014, the Panthers aren't going to find a taker. In theory, it's surprising that it would come to this with one of the greatest players in Panthers history, but Smith appeared to have lost multiple steps last season. Excusing his rookie year and injury-ruined 2004, Smith's 745 yards were the second fewest of his career. With or without Smith, the Panthers have a desperate need at wideout.

I am surprised he received less money than Everson Griffen. Kinda makes you wonder if he took a hometown discount, or if Minnesota got scared and overpaid Everson a little bit?

Reports are he did take a bit of a hometown discount. A couple of teams offered a bit more.

I was figuring as much. I bet Chicago offered him really close to what Everson got. One has to figure that Chris Clemons will now be released from Seattle's roster.

Also, don't get me wrong, I am fine with the Everson deal. Would have I liked to see him get a tad less money? Sure, but it really is not going to matter if he produces (like I think he will produce for us).

Wow. What a waste of a 1st round pick. Looks like he has no guaranteed money so they will save a ton with the release but still....
