What would waiting harm? Childress was looking good too when his was exteneded. I always like Fraizer personally but not as a HC. But he is even winning me over lately, and I still dont see what extended it now would do?

Hey Cliff, nothing to do with the thread but check your PM's when you have a chance please. Thanks.

The Vikes had a WEAK schedual this year and benefitted accordingly.

Musgrave is a blatant idiot and Frasier bears responsibility for his asst coaches choices

The only really good team we beat was the Niners, How many bad play calls do we have to witness at 3rd and short, or goal line?

I will say our coverage on special teams is better then the recent past, our running game is great but thats largely due to APs insane commitment and DemiGod body.

We deserve a great coach. There are a number out there available. Our team is NOT meant to be a training ground for inexperienced first time coaches like Leslie

Dude you and your ilk spew nothing but negativity. It is one thing to criticize but you guys are serious "grinches" year round. Nothing is good every thing is bad. But you are all good fans so that excuses everything :)

I have no problem extending Frazier a year or two. But I hope they don't give him like 5 years and a ton of money like they stupidly did with Clueless.

When Baldylocks was extended he had 1 playoff appearance, no playoff wins, was still a terrible play caller/gameday coach and the players didn't like him. I hope he sends Brett Favre a Christmas Card every year cause he's the reason he got that extension.
I agree with you about Coach Clueless. But your descriptions of Chilly are cracking me up! Baldylocks? :D

It is Wilf's money, I guess, but everyone suffers when he pulls the trigger too early. I would rather he waited until at least halfway through next season. This week is also the biggest game this season, and Frazier hasn't been the best game manager in do or die situations. If he had pulled Ponder in Green Bay, or Seattle, we may have already clinched a playoff spot, and this week could have been for the division.

Zulgad: Doubts were justified, but Leslie Frazier always remained positive
No one in Winter Park would ever admit it, but there are plenty who work in the building who, if candid, would acknowledge they never thought the Vikings' regular-season finale would decide whether the franchise would make it back to the playoffs for the first time since 2009.

There is plenty of credit that must go around for the speedy turnaround. Spielman did a masterful job retooling the roster and his draft last April could go down as one of the best for a Vikings executive.

But credit has to begin with Frazier.
Don't worry, Zulgad explains that statement... :)

It's a good read.

Definitely a good read. Thanks for the link.

Zulgad and Pelissero have done a great job with their coverage all this season.

You and I see totally eye-to-eye on this. The fact that the Vikings had a 12-4 season was mostly because Favre either coached the team himself (or flat-out ignored Childress's input) on what to do. I'm just glad Childress is Cleveland's (maybe Wisconsin's in the future) problem now.... :smilevike:

CBS writer Clark Judge has written an article about Coach of the Year candidates that deserve to be recognized, even though they aren't likely to get the award:

Leslie Frazier, Minnesota

My mother once told me that good things happen to good people, and there are few better people in this business than Frazier. He's not only kind, compassionate and understanding; he's one helluva football coach. These Vikings were supposed to be a dead-bolt cinch to bring up the rear of the NFC North for a second straight season, and there were rumors that Frazier might be on his way out. Yeah, sure, and you can time Adrian Peterson with an hourglass, too. Frazier is one of the year's best feel-good stories, and hallelujah. With everyone talking about Peterson and his exploits, it's about time we recognize the coach that has Minnesota in the playoff picture. He beat San Francisco. He beat Chicago. He beat Houston. In short, he won games he shouldn't have, and that's usually a sign of a coach who knows what he's doing. The Vikings don't have a top-15 offense; they don't have a top-15 defense; and they're minus-2 in the turnover differential. Yet, somehow, they're alive, and, yes, Peterson is a big reason. But so is this guy.

Vikings' Leslie Frazier: His message sparked Minnesota's historic turnaround
Frazier's ability to keep his team on message has been the driving force in what already matches the biggest single-season improvement in team history. It hasn't mattered that the Vikings have less talent than many of their opponents, or that they have the game's worst passing attack. And it certainly hasn't mattered that the league's fourth-youngest squad is a year removed from a 3-13 record. The team is 9-6, six wins better than in 2011, matching its jump from 9-7 to 15-1 in 1998. The Vikings have never improved by this much following a losing season. Only their ascent in 1968 comes close. A year after finishing 3-8-3, the Vikings went 8-6 and captured their first division title.
The Vikings' style of play matches Frazier's coaching persona. He is rarely demonstrative, players say, and keeps his player leadership group close, meeting with it Wednesdays to hone his message for the week.

"That's the only way you come back from tough losses -- if you have good leadership that can squelch a lot of discontent on the team," Frazier said.

The 53-year-old believes it's important for players to know what they'll get from him each day, remembering the effect volcanic coaches had on him when he was a cornerback for the 1980s Chicago Bears.

For these Vikings, Frazier's measured approach seems to be just right.

"He's the coach I've been looking to play for my whole career," fullback Jerome Felton said. "He's hands down the best coach I've ever played for."

@TomPelissero: Spent some time BSing with Zygi Wilf tonight. I can say this in all honesty, #Vikings fans: the guy wants to win as badly as you do.
