Ramsey County, Vikings have plan to pay for roads
The Vikings and Ramsey County are expected to lay out a plan as early as today that would cover about half of the $131 million cost in roads upgrades around the proposed Arden Hills stadium site. The state would be asked to pay the other half.

Well you can't say Wilf isn't trying. I think he (the Vikings) has offered to do far more than many thought he would do. He really wants to get something done. I hope this leads to a deal to keep this place Purple!!

Vikings, governor appear to get closer

A meeting Tuesday that included Gov. Mark Dayton, Ted Mondale, Vikings owners Zygi and Mark Wilf and team Vice President Lester Bagley has given new hope that a Ramsey County stadium bill will be passed at a special session of the Legislature after the budget is settled.

At the meeting in the governor's office, the word is that the Wilfs agreed to add in the area of $30 million more to the $407 million contribution they made from the start toward building the stadium.

Vikings stadium: Heading for a scramble?
An online petition fraught with political considerations is asking the government in Minnesota to require the Minnesota Vikings to build a new stadium in downtown Minneapolis or St. Paul, rather than in suburban Arden Hills, and that the team and its stadium users cover the project's full cost.

I would say, IF they want the team and its users to pay for the entire project, they really cant tell them "where" to build it.

Reports the #Vikings have dropped cost of stadium to $820 million and increased their contribution at least $17mill from $407 million. The Arden Hills #Vikings stadium had been projected to cost $1 billion but it is reportedly down $200 million.
Veep Bagley won't confirm but GOP Sen. Doug Magnus says numbers "are heading in the right direction."
Sources also reporting #Vikings deal could be worked out this afternoon along with state budget deal - or not.
Veep Bagley says "There are no hard and fast #'s. Ideas are being exchanged every day."
#vikings are trying to close a funding gap somewhere between $70 million and $131 million.

Unknown at this point. Making the roof fixed would only cut $25 million. Making it open air would cut more than $200 million, but I can't imagine the government agreeing to this. I believe the governor's proposed $300 million contribution relied heavily on a dome of some sort to get substantially more usage out of the facility year-round. We'll know more soon.

It likely doesnt matter anyways. While preparing for a govt shut down, I doubt anything non-budget gets any time or consideration anyways.

It could very be a good 4th......

According to reports, the Minnesota Vikings' stadium drama might be coming to an end as early as Wednesday night.

StarTribune.com, the website of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, reported Wednesday that the financial figures exchanged by legislative leaders and team officials have been getting closer in recent days, with the overall cost of the project dropping by some $200 million and the Vikings raising their contribution beyond the original $407 million they offered to the project.

Another major hurdle was the cost of transportation upgrades around the stadium site, or, more specifically, who would bear those costs. Among the state, the team and Ramsey County, that issue apparently has been settled.

An announcement could come as early as Wednesday night, according to the report.

Unless Im an idiot (which is totally not out of the question), all this is, is the final "proposal" being done by the Vikings, to propose to law-makers, IF they have time to listen. If IM right, big deal. Id say, "about friggin time an actaul final plan was proposed". Doesnt mean the state will say "OMG, so glad you actually have a plan in place, good job, here you go, take our cash and start building". Is it a step in the right direction? I suppose. One that should have been done AT LEAST a year ago. Its actually more embarrassing it just got done at this point, than it is exciting to me. Hopefully it isnt just them "settleing" for another Metro Dome II. On the excitement meter, a 1.5 on a 1-100 scale for me.

Hopefully this doesn't mean they're going with a fixed roof. Either no roof, or retractable. Pleease. :(
