However, whether this game is evidence of growth, whether it's seen as an indication that the team is moving towards better days and postseason wins or still mired in mediocrity and unable to get over the hump is largely a matter of perspective. Is the glass half full or half empty? The defense gave up the big running play they couldn't afford to allow. They gave up the late scoring drive they couldn't afford to allow. Sure, they hit hard. They made some great plays, intercepted Manning, etc. and all of that stuff is encouraging but how many times in recent years have we seen the Vikes give up that drive they couldn't afford to give up? Too many... and they're still doing it. Different team, same story. What I would really love is to see them shut down teams when those teams most need to score, close out games when it's time to close them out. That would make me love what I was seeing out of the defense. It's hard to love 144 yards rushing for a team that was one of the league's worst rushing teams going into this game, especially when improved run defense was a point of emphasis this summer.
This is fair and I especially agree with the first sentence. There's no use getting too bent over this discussion, because perspectives and opinions are so varied. But hey...It is a discussion board, so that's why this is the good stuff, in my opinion.

Teddy's QB rating today 92 .4 - Peyton's rating was 68. What are you looking for?
Exactly. And this was against the top defense in the league. He also started playing really well after taking 4 sacks early. That's the type of resilience top QBs have in the league.

Diggs will become a good player for the Vikings. He ran a nice route on broncos best CB talib. That was a beauty!

Really what Teddy are you watching?? How many receivers did he miss bad today? How many sacks did he just step into. He is no,franchise qb. I hope i eat my words someday but as of now fire up the tape of the college qbs and get some scouts out there.
Wow, thats way different from what I gathered watching the game, I think Teddy played decent against a top NFL Defense.

Yes, that play where he just turned Talib around and ended up wide open was excellent.

Fantastic game today. Last minute heroics, stiff defense for the most part, down to the wire. If you are a true Football fan, this was the one the best game we've seen in quite a while. Lived up to expectation.
Go Vikes!

to criticize teddy today with that line shows the mentality of a browns or raiders fan.

Does qb ratings win games? You can't miss receivers like he does and be a top tier qb. He just does not have the IT factor of a great qb. Maybe that changes with a better line. But for now i am nowhere close to sold on TB.

I understand what you're saying. The couple big plays we allowed were rough. However, that is the nature of the game. Even the best defenses give up big plays. Look at Denver and the run they gave up to AP. Outside of the one big run Hillman had, they had 21 carries for 74 yards which is pretty good run defense IMO. We just gave up a big play at a bad time. Denver is the best defense in the league and they did the same thing today with AP. I understand we can't afford to give up those big plays but I'm still very impressed with their run defense the last 3 games.

Teddy came out of today's game a better QB than he was going in. I think today was around his 16th start, he is nowhere close to approaching his ceiling. As someone else noted earlier, he is being "forged". AP will not be around forever, and it's games like this that combat the game manager role. We need Teddy to be THE man when AP is gone, not a role player.

- The offensive line doesn't have even have one single pro-bowl potential starter right now. I am so tired of the offensive line playing like absolute crap every single year. Spielman has been here 5 years now as the guy in charge and has yet to put together a above-avergae offensive line. Teddy was under siege all day.
- Cordarrelle Patterson may as well just be traded away for peanuts as he didn't do a damn thing all day. The coaching staff is clearly never going to get him involved and it appears that he still can't run routes well.
- Kyle Rudolph doesn't deserve his contract.
I disagree with some of this. I think Kalil has played exceptionally well all season. And for the 2nd time, if our offensive line was healthy, they would be a solid offensive line. Especially with Kalil playing better now. I don't care who you are, if you lose your 2 best offensive lineman, you're in trouble. Look at where most of the pressure is coming from...... up the middle (Berger) and the right side (Clemmings). The two spots we're hurt at.
No need to trade Patterson because he still carries a lot of value as a KR.
Rudolph has been our best receiving option up until this game. I understand he didnt do much today, but through the first 3 weeks he was leading the team in catches and targets I believe.

I just have to point out that last year when we lost Fusco, you said he was our best lineman. Why is he not one of the top 2 now?
For the record, I actually agree that (in order) our best lineman are Loadholt, Sully, Fusco, Kalil. I think Berger/Mizzle is a push. So I don't necessarily disagree with this statement, I just would like consistency instead of our best lineman being the one who is injured.
But also, Ware was wrecking us on the left side, so I don't think you can really attribute the pressure to any particular area. They just have great rushers and were coming from everywhere.
