As far as this season goes, if he doesn't play another game, fine. But I'd be lying if I said I felt the same as far as next season goes. I think he could still be a huge and valuable pieced to next years playoff-hopeful team. Fresh legs for one of the all-time greats? Yes, please.

I'm not going to lie and say I haven't thought the same thing, but at this point it's more beneficial for my mental health to assume the worst. Optimism has not been kind to me this season.

I said it before. This year could be a blessing in disguise. An angry Peterson with fresh legs. A rookie QB with experience under his belt. A team with one year under a new system. Next season could be the year the Vikings become relevant again.

My concern is that they'll cut him. I don't see how he would come back at a lower salary, and I'm having a hard time believing the Vikings want to pay him $12 million, given the publicity nightmare it might cause.

That's what I'm afraid of too. I hate having to think that. I believe this is a totally different team next year regardless having everyone back healthy. I say I want to keep Peterson but at the same time, this years RB class is loaded. Same with the WR class. I know we need offensive line but could you imagine us somehow snagging Amari Cooper at WR and Melvin Gordon at RB within the first two rounds It's definitely possible if we could land a big time offensive lineman in free agency like Iupati

And with the money saved by moving on from Peterson, landing a big time player in free agency like Iupati (assuming he hits the market) is not at all out of the realm of possibility. Heck, with the money saved from Peterson plus our already decent projected cap space, we could conceivably sign Iupati to help our line and lets say..... DeMarco Murray to replace Peterson (again, assuming they both hit the market). Then we could draft a WR and a OT or LB in the first 2 rounds of the draft.

Pipe dream? Ya, most likely. But my point is that the money we could save from letting Peterson go could help this team out in the long term. I'm not necessarily advocating letting Peterson go, because the thought of him in another uniform makes me a bit sick to my stomach. But considering that it appears to be a very realistic possibility, there is definitely a silver lining to be had in the situation

So, I bet he's traded. That's a lot of FA money to use on OL and a MLB.
This draft seems to be very WR, RB heavy.

I think after this year zim and norv will have a much better idea of what they need to be successful in the future. Last year they basically had to go off film, hopefully this year will allow them to see who really fits the system and who doesn't.

Hopefully it includes Peterson. I would love to see what the offense can do with him and Teddy together.

The stadium is almost half done and we have a Super Bowl and final four scheduled. There is nothing the legislature could or would do to prevent it from finishing.

No, but there is a lot the local corporate sponsors could do to keep all those luxury suites and club seats from getting sold, to say nothing of stadium naming rights. Just having one (Radisson) go weak-kneed caused the Wilfs to instantly show AP the door and then grovel at the press conference the first time around. They can't take any risks until all those deals are in place and ironclad.

One can only hope that the Vikings have taken, are taking, and will continue to take all this time afforded by Peterson's ridiculous suspension (that should have been Ray Rice's but isn't thanks to the NFL's and Goodell's bungling and lying) to do everything it takes to get the sponsors to accept a Peterson return in whatever form it takes. Even if they don't really care about AP, they should do it so that the local media/sponsor lynch mob doesn't have effective control of (or at least effective veto power over) every personnel decision the Vikings make in the future.

The Radisson deal happened, in my opinion, because the incident was still fresh, little was known, the Ray Rice fiasco had just gone down, and Peterson had just been indicted. Peterson's case has now been adjudicated, Roger Goodell's policies have been rebuked, and Ray Rice is eligible to play again. What's the risk at this point?

When there's money to be made, corporations aren't going to be so idealistic. I mean, a Fortune 500 needs a place to entertain clients and win business. They're not going to give up that advantage because a running back was convicted of a misdemeanor. I also don't believe sponsors will back out because at this point, there will be plenty lining up to take their place if they do. I could be wrong, but it just seems like most people view the Peterson incident as over.

Report: Peterson to support 'time served' claim with evidence

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson will have his appeal presented by an arbitrator on Tuesday, and a recent report suggest he’ll have strong evidence against the NFL in his case.

According to Pro Football Talk, citing multiple sources, Peterson intends to submit a recorded conversation with NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations Troy Vincent that notes Peterson’s time on the exempt list would be treated as time served once the league reviewed his case for possible disciplinary action.

Do the last two games count as suspended games? Or since he is appealing do they still pay him and count as Commissioner's Exempt List games? Further, if he wins the appeal tomorrow, do you think he will play this up coming Sunday against the Jets?
