Re: Adrian Peterson (not) Reinstated
What it comes down to is if the Vikings find the cost benefit of keeping him to be worth it. I personally see Peterson having much more to lode by making this into a debacle. However my gut tells me that the Vikings will blink and take a second for him
Re: Adrian Peterson (not) Reinstated
People saying Peterson has no leverage are right and I understand not wanting to set a bad precedent by letting him go. I also get it from Zygi's POV, he's probably pissed after the sponsorship fiasco and throwing an additional $13M down the drain and getting nothing in return last season. However, why do you want that distraction around?
Team has a very bright future. Last thing they need is an unhappy Peterson, especially with his agent and dad running their mouths to the media every other day. That isn't fair to Zimmer, Teddy, and the other players. Just take the pick(s) and move on.
I think we can all move away from blaming the media and others as well, this is all on Peterson. No doubt anymore that he wants out.

People have been saying that for weeks.MusicCityViking wrote:
I just don't understand why he doesn't want to play here. The team has a brighter future than it has in years and he would be a huge part of it.
I still don't believe that AD doesn't want to play here. I think his agent is trying to move him so he can make more endorsement money because he probably won't get that here.

Re: Adrian Peterson (not) Reinstated
Sounds like someone deep in Peterson's camp have convinced him; the Vikings were pushing the NFL
to move him move him to the non exempt list and extend his suspension past the two games, he thought
he was getting.
I hope we just move him at this point to a crap team and he suffers there until the end of his career.
Really unfair to the Vikings and coaching staff IMO

Re: Adrian Peterson (not) Reinstated
No way we only get a second rounder for AP, running backs of his caliber don't come around that often. We have to at least get a starting caliber player along with a draft pick, Spielman, would be out of his mind to deal him for any less.
Re: Adrian Peterson (not) Reinstated
Has there been ANY definitive quote from A.P. stating that he DOES NOT want to come back? All I see is speculation being stated as though it's fact. I know he said he was still "uneasy" about things, which means..... He's still uneasy about things... and not that he has come to any conclusion. The media spins this for clicks. Joe Blo with his 100 degrees of separation reports that Peterson's agent "REJECTED" (what an conveniently emotional word for something that could be as simple as bad timing) a meeting with Speilman, and posts a picture above the article of Peterson during a game 5 years ago with a troublesome expression on his face. Click bait. "Citing a source with knowledge of the situation" AKA Mickey Mouse.

Good point. I like the Mickey Mouse reference too.Superman wrote:Has there been ANY definitive quote from A.P. stating that he DOES NOT want to come back? I don't like the media either when they're blindly speculating but I don't think this is one of those cases. Seems clear that he wants out.
As for not taking the meeting, his agent confirmed that part:
I don't know how Peterson is doing it but this is very impressive. He's making it seem like the Vikings are the ones who did something wrong here and not himself. He also has some fans convinced that he's innocent in all of this and someone else is pulling the strings (his agent) or the media is just making everything up.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/12526 ... ta-vikingsAdrian Peterson's agent, Ben Dogra, confirmed Friday that he declined an invitation to meet with Vikings general manager Rick Spielman at the owners meetings after Spielman informed him Wednesday that the Vikings would not release Peterson. The news, which was first reported on Friday by Yahoo! Sports, is another sign that the Vikings and Peterson remain at odds.

Re: Adrian Peterson (not) Reinstated
If lollygaggers would stop lollygagging, reinstate AP, and put an end to all this jibber jabber, only then it will sort itself out. Until then, feet drag at a snails pace.

Don't hate on my Buckeyes. Some of the best Vikings went to Ohio State.
Including now, HOF WR #80 Cris Carter
Re: Adrian Peterson (not) Reinstated
I'm still "uneasy" regarding the wording in these articles. Dogma declined the meeting "after" Spielman made known the Vikings plans... "After" is not the same as "because of". I know I'm nit-picking, I just can't stand spinning words to veil a lack of any solid information. I will agree that it does not look good. I wasn't aware of his quote later on in that article stating that he knows the Vikings brass well enough to know that they will not hold him hostage to his contract. All of this sucks.Vikings28 wrote:I don't like the media either when they're blindly speculating but I don't think this is one of those cases. Seems clear that he wants out.

When was the last time AP spoke I public? I haven't heard anything from him in a while, just from his agent.

No, and there never will be. He's not going to come flat out and say he does not want to come back but lets look at what we do know:Superman wrote:Has there been ANY definitive quote from A.P. stating that he DOES NOT want to come back? 1) He stated if it were up to his wife, he wouldn't be in Minnesota
2) His agent had a very public fight with Brez at the combine and stated Peterson will never play for the Vikings
3) He's stated he's uneasy about his return
4) A family member has stated he wants out
Now any single one of those is probably nothing but you take them all together along with the media reports and it sure looks like there's a lot of smoke. And when there's a lot of smoke, there's usually a fire. Not always, but it doesn't look very good.
Re: Adrian Peterson (not) Reinstated
Been a while. Maybe the Vikings or someone else told him that the more him and his dad talk, the less likely a chance of a trade becomes because they're killing his value.720pete wrote:When was the last time AP spoke I public? I haven't heard anything from him in a while, just from his agent.

I wouldn't count Dallas out of the picture yet. They would need to send out player(s) for cap reasons.
What about Claiborne? See what Zimmer can do with him. Add in a pick, a conditional pick next year, have AP restructure his deal. Done.
