Correct and he doesn't sufficiently learn from his mistakes. He can put together rosters with enough talent to keep a certain percentage of the fan base feeling encouraged and ready to defend him but either those rosters haven't been as talented as they're always made out to be or the Vikings have been doing a lot of underachieving.

A GM"s job isn't to "win" the draft, it's to build a great team.
Its a fair criticism. I think a lack of offensive continuity has also played a role. There has been so much turnover on that side of the ball. There is room for improvement simply by sticking with Kubiak's system on offense for a 3 or 4 year span. This will be year two in this offense, and presumably we'll have Cousins under contract, and Kubiak at OC for the next 3 years barring a major shakeup. This, for me, is the one silver lining in a contract move I don't agree with.

Bevell to Musgrave, Musgrave to Turner, Turner to Shurmer, Shurmer to De Filipo, De Filipo to Stefanski. Until 2020, its not just been a different name at the OC position, its been a different offensive philosophy! I don't know how those decisions are made within the organization and am not sure you can take Spielman off the hook for those OC changes, but it sure makes building a coherent offensive roster difficult.
Honestly the NFL should make it so Coordinators have to either finish out their contracts or be released by teams before they're eligible for interviews for the head coaching position.

Also screw Norv Turner, I think we all can agree he was the pits and a coward.

Continuity can definitely make a big difference, especially if the right coaches and personnel are in place.

If Vikings keep Harris then I think Vikings would not draft Winfield which would kinda suck since I want to see him the Winfield family continue with Vikings

We keep Harris on franchise tag it's only 1 year. To get Winfield we would not want to use a first and he might be gone by our second.

Chris Tomasson says the Vikings are working on a long term deal with Harris.

  Well if that is true, we can officially eliminate him being included in the Williams deal which makes me very happy

That would be great news keeping Harris and hopefully getting Williams and that would mean we can go into the draft and take BPA.

We're working on it. No promise that it gets done.

If extending him frees up money for them to make more moves, especially acquiring Trent Williams, then it's a win-win. If they had a ton of cap space I would like to see his production next year as far as interceptions go. However, last year he was a difference-maker and Ball Hawk who has also been one of the highest graded safeties in football according to pff which complimented his reliability as a tackler. I would be happy if they were able to extend him to a reasonable deal.

That’s my thing man, he’s an elite ball hawk. You might find a “good” safety but to find a ball hawk like Harris that can cause turnovers, you gotta hold onto that. Especially given how stripped our CB group is

If they were planning on a sign and trade, they'd just agree with the Franchise Tag and then trade him.
