chicagopurple wrote: Thu Oct 03, 2019 3:09 pm Its funny how its always a WR who plays the diva....if that is whats happening. Think about all the diva WRs over the years....almost every team has had a few.
It's becoming any star now. Lev Bell, Melvin Gordon, Zeke all holding out. Ramsey and Fitzpatrick demanding trades. I hate the way the league is going.

I understand the players positions when it comes to contracts, because owners make a TON of money off those players. But, I don't understand this level of public pouting when it comes to how the teams are playing. Internally, I completely get it. Air your concerns/differences to the team. Help them make it better. Pouting about it or causing problems until the team sends you somewhere else is pathetic to me though.

I guess if I hated my job, I could leave and go somewhere else... but I also don't have a contract where I'm making a ton of money. If i did, I would most certainly make it work. These guys have little understanding how great they have it. Most people would kill to have a job in the NFL. I understanding wanting to win games, but these guys have already won just by having an elite job in the NFL. They need a little perspective. I guess the old man in me just wants them to buck up and honor the contracts they agreed to, and realize how good they have it. Pouting about things NEVER makes it better.
I'm sorry but if you were in the top 100 heart surgeons in the world you would act similar
. I've seen doctors throw a hissy fit because they couldn't hand write an order. When you are elite in what you do, you have different rules. Most people cannot put up with what they have to regardless of the money. Everyone says they would but most could only last a year or so tops. The pressure, the constant workouts, the disrespect by coaches, the lack of privacy it seems easy because we see the money but once you have 3 million, that #### doesn't really drive you Think about how many people walk away from 6 figure jobs because they hate it. People that make 20k a year belibe they could suck it up and take it .

I understand the hard work that he put in. I also now see some of the physical toll that he has. He was a solid player in the league for 8 seasons. He wasn't a top paid superstar, but just a good solid player. So he wasn't making the kind of $$$$$$ that guys like the high paid superstars are.. Diggs.. Ramsey.. cough cough. But in him I also see a 34 yr old who is VERY wealthy, has all the free time in the world to spend with his family, is very generous to the small town HS , helping coach and always buying equipment etc. He is set for life, and very appreciative of it.
Now the flipside. I'm starting to get sick of seeing these guys pulling this crap. I know they work hard, and the average career is like 3.5 yrs , and they are at risk yadda yadda. But isn't it amazing how much they just LOVE their organization, and they dont care about anything but the team winning and all that WHEN they are getting close to or ARE signing that huge contract. Then after that it's play to lash out in the media or create a disruption in the locker room or for the team. Then they wanna be traded etc.
And yes I know that it is a 2 way street and owners and G.M.s can turn their backs when they want to. I get it.
But ya know what.. I will 55 in a few wks. I've been working in some capacity since I was about 10. Started out mowing yards and shoveling snow as a kid. Worked all thru H.S. at a local grocery store while playing football, wrestling and baseball. Worked some in college and have been employed my whole life. Never have been unemployed. I still have another 7 yrs or so to go to retire.
So sorry if this pisses anyone off, but today I'm sick and tired of hearing SOME of these guys who if not an idiot with their money, will have enough money by their 30th birthday that their kids kids kids would be set, crying and whining because they felt disrespected, or they didnt get their way, or they aren't getting the ball enough. I've watched wonderful ppl I know who have labored their whole lives struggle in retirement, some even having to take part time jobs, because their damn health insurance payments are too high to make it.
And I know I'm part of the blame cuz I buy all the Vikings gear, and the NFL ticket, and have paid stupid prices for tickets to see them play.
But ya know, today I really wish someone would just blast some of these idiots straight in the face and try and get them to see they PLAY A F#$%^G KID'S GAME and many make MILLIONS OF DOLLARS TO DO IT!!! We had another kid from our area , was actually a neighbor of mines son while I was in H.S. who played with the Giants for 2 seasons on the practice squad, and he made damn good money doing that.
Man I'm sorry , but I'm a bit testy right now cuz an injury is keeping me out of the woods, the Vikes are in turmoil.
But I am SO sick and tired of seeing guys who start making the big bucks totally turn into selfish morons.
Speech over. If I pissed u off, sorry. If u agree, great. But I just had to vent. And my wife could give a crap about football, so I vented with buddies at work today who feel the same way. Just wanted to get it out to some fellow Viking fans.

I liked your post. You stated it exactly as it is IMO. This was a cluster the minute it was set up. We have an idiot as an OC. In a real world example it would be like promoting the janitor to be chairman of the board. If I was running this team Diggs would be suspended with no pay. He wouldn't make this trip. If yoiu do nothing, which Zim will, everybody on the team knows we don't have to practice. Control is lost. Even if we tried to trade him what is the value. You won't get a 1st round pick. He's not good enough and eats plenty of CAP. I don't see how a team can put up with this. The Pats cut the stiff who ran his mouth and did a bunch of BS. But there winners. Can't Speilman see this? Or Zim? I know the OC can't see it. He don't even know the skill set of our players. See Cook's blocking ability and this guy expects him to help with Mack. Even if we beat this joke Giant team 40-0 the headline will be what a great D and our O is back on track ect Hello we played a door mat... I'm sorry to. But again thank you for the post.

Thanks man. I'm sure there may be some on the board who think I went off a little too strong but it's just my opinion. I know as a supervisor I am in the middle of my hourly employees and upper management. I get frustrated.. real frustrated.. sometimes , but if I started going up in front of while work force and slamming all the managment team and throwing tantrums and just started not showing up for work, I wouldn't be coddled, I would be gone. And I'm not gonna be making enough money in 3 years to set up my generations to come financially either. And trust me , I'm not doing a job that I absolutely love and millions out there would love to be able to do, i am not getting free cars from dealerships, free clothes from clothing stores, I pay for all my meals when the wife and I go out for dinner. That's another thing many ppl may not realize. It's insane the amount of a free things provided for so many of these guys.. and they are the ones who DON'T need anything given to them.
It just seems like these past few seasons it has just gotten so much worse. It's like the egos and the sense of entitlement has just exploded. I know it's been there for years , but in my opinion it has just become overwhelming.
So many of guys at work don't even pay attention to the NFL anymore because of this. All they follow is college ball. I've always been just the opposite. I'm really starting to understand their rationale now.
I guess this potential implosion of the Vikings just finally hit that deep nerve and just really set me off this week. I really thought this was a pretty close and unified team the past few seasons and really felt we were on the cusp of finally bringing home the Lombardi trophy. I never dreamed 2 seasons ago we would end up like this. Just frustrating man, and every week it seems to be a different player in the league taking all the headlines due to ego and selfishness.
Bottom line is You wanted to achieve this dream. No u got it and you are getting VERY wealthy to do it. So please just shut up and do ur job. If it's that bad... quit and go get a typical $35, 000 a yr job and see how horrible you really have it.

I don’t want to write a frickin novel so i’ll Keep it short. Long time Viking fan (since 12/70). Zim is in over his head. Is there anything more cringe worthy than watching Zim take questions? “Will Diggs play Sunday?”
“I’ll have to watch the tape.” Give me a frickin break. I was so excited we were going to be special this year instead of a hot mess. Time to start over.

I don't like being negative but there's not too much to be positive with our team. Even this board is starting to get pissed with this BS. We all drank the cool aid. I never thought Diggs would go off. That came out of the blue. So there's some bad stuff happening. I think the Bears turned our lights out and we won't be coming home.

I believe Diggs’ frustration comes from two areas on the team, Zimmer and Cousins.

Zimmer wants a balanced attack that is run-heavy in 2019. How many teams have a receiver tandem like Thielen and Diggs but the coach refuses to open up things with the passing game beyond the vanilla offense they put together chocked full of ineffective bootlegs.

Cousins to me Is a QB who falters under pressure. When that pocket shrinks, so does the chance of any completion happening. When the Vikes do pass, Kirk looks like an $84,000 QB and not a $84,000,000 QB.

A team doesn't fine you for being sick or seeing your dying grandma. He also put all of his guaranteed money on his contract in jeopardy (at least technically even if not realistically). Anyway, the point is there's no speculation anymore why he wasn't at practice, he wasn't happy. Sometimes that's a good thing if it gets the team motivated, sometimes it's a distraction. I think we need to string together more than one W to see which way it goes.

Diggs looked pretty cheerful during the game, according to Ben Leber, high-fived a bunch of players and even walked over to Cousins and gave him a high five.

We'll see how next week goes though.

I thought his postgame interview was encouraging until he said he likes Minnesota and wants to stay in Minnesota, but gave a sly smile and a wink. Maybe I'm looking into it too much, but that was a bit too obvious ignore.

Yeah, that was a little...I don't know... disconcerting. I think he wants to be the true "#1" on a pass-first team with a top-8 QB. I mean, I get it. He's a talented, competitive WR.

Just love us like we love you, Stefon.

I have heard it suggested on other Vikings websites that a Diggs for Trent Williams trade would be good. It's a pretty interesting trade to me. The offensive line would be a lot better but Thielen would be doubled every game. Also Trent Williams is quite a bit older. Personally, if they trade him I would rather it be some sort of package for Jalen Ramsey. If they could lock Ramsey up long-term he would take this defense to an ultra elite level in my opinion.
