Rams released CB Cortland Finnegan.
Finnegan, 30, was due a $3 million roster bonus next Thursday. There was no chance the Rams were going to pay it. He was scheduled to count $10 million against the cap in total. St. Louis clears a much-needed $7 million in cap space with the move. Before landing on injured reserve with a fractured orbital bone in November, Finnegan was getting routinely beat in coverage as the Rams' slot corner. He signed a five-year, $50 million deal ahead of the 2012 season.

Seems like just yesterday the Clinton Portis-Champ Bailey deal went down..my how the league has changed.

ESPN - LB D'Qwell Jackson's deal with Colts is for 4 years, $22M with $11M guaranteed, source tells ESPN

Bailey is awesome but he's been battling a bunch of injuries and is a liability in coverage now. One year depth deal for vet minimum isn't something I'd fight but I'd guess a contender would love him.

I wonder if the Vikings talked with him at all. If they did, they probably weren't talking four year contract, so might have made the decision easy for him.
