But he turned into, what I believe, is going to be a good CB. I was hoping for Verner (which is why when I first heard they might spend a lot on Melton I wasn't too happy, I wanted them to pay Verner whatever he wanted...a 5'8'' corner just doesn't get me as excited as a true outside corner).
If Rhodes made that much diference in 1 season Floyd, (I call him Mr close cause he was always so close to making a play) should be decent by mid season. I think the Vikings D will be in good shape. The O, well, Im not so sure of that. But I am sure Norv is the man for the job. And if he want a big arm that we can get late in the draft, Zack M is his guy.

Verner is only a few inches taller. So is Revis. I said it before but height doesn't always translate to success at CB and I can provide lots of examples.

1) So you're saying that it was no way possible for Floyd to earn his way into the starting role. Despite the fact that every other player who was drafted in the 1st round under Frazier won the starting role that same year?
2) I'm not so sure. In 2012 before the midseason collaspe, a lot of fans were believing in Ponder. It's that same belief in him that us to where we are now. Looking for another QB. Ponder and Floyd will be similar soon. Once Floyd proves he is a bust this season.
I am far from being a good speller but since you just dogged someone about their spelling you might want to be careful about yours. Collapse is not spelled (like you did) COLLASPE.

Did you guys watch any games last year? Floyd was so close to getting to the QB many times. He has the potential to be the best 3 technique DT in the game. The guy has some serious quickness. Give him another year now, he's going to be stronger and better coached....Pro Bowler next year.
I agree

In other news, I think the Vikings should look at Chris Clemons or Thomas DeCoud at safety.

LOL! Believe me, my memory isn't that good. I just recalled that because he started a thread about it and there were some people pretty fired up about the subject.

Bring back KWill for a year or 2 as a rotational guy/mentor to our young D & let him retire as a Viking!

Just like many players are projected as top players in the draft. Floyd did not live up to the expectations people have for him. In college he looked pretty good so it was obvious to see the potential he had. BUT Floyd did not translate that ability to the NFL.
... in his first season...
... in a limited role behind a player who could receive legitimate consideration for the Hall of Fame someday. As others have pointed out, he looked pretty good and disruptive at times. there were admittedly times where he didn't look good at all too but you haven't exactly given Floyd much time to prove himself before changing your mind about him and declaring him a bust.
As for me being upset that Frazier didn't start him with Williams. I am glad. That wouldn't have work because Floyd isn't a true NT and neither is K-Will. When Floyd did come in, I seen nothing that showed me why he was worth the 1st round pick. The fact that we are considering getting a guy that is coming off an ACL injury says alot.
I think it just says they want more than one good 3 technique tackle on their roster.

Yeah, yeah, I know I'm an "apologist" but what the heck did Floyd do last year to indicate that it was stupid to not get him on the field more and that Frazier was a "joke" for not doing so? I'm not in King James' corner on this at all but I also didn't see anything from Floyd last year to suggest he was superior to Kevin Williams.

P.S. - I am in the middle ground on Frazier, he wasn't a great coach IMO, nor was he the failure many make him out to be. He had his strengths and weaknesses, like any coach. I like where we are at now with Zimmer, though.
P.P.S - Sorry for being a smart ####, Moth.

No need to apologize. I'm actually grateful. It's easy for us to forget to follow our own advice, even when it's good.
I like where the Vikings are at with Zimmer too. I'm hopeful that he'll prove to be a very good coach.

Oh, I don't know, maybe because you are the one escalating the topic of Sharrif Floyd being a bust? It is pretty evident by your statement here you like to entice others.
