so that means that at least 19 guys already on the roster eventually will be cut. Plus 4 more 7th rounders and some 6ths.

I believe they go to training camp with 90. First cut down is to 75.

One of the reasons Rick's approach bugs me is because it's exactly the same erroneous philosophy he used to assemble our piss poor OL last year. He seems to go for quantity instead of quality. To me, it screams "amateur hour".

Found this on another forum. Not sure of accuracy
Basically they traded
third-round pick (No. 86)
for
fourth-round pick (No. 109)
fifth-round pick (170)
fifth-round pick (180)
seventh-round pick (No. 219)
seventh-round pick (No. 230)
seventh-round pick (No. 245)

4 third rounders and we get one player. Laughable

Look at John Randle... undrafted and imo one of the
greatest Vikings of all time. we have no idea that one
of these 6th or 7th round rounders might win us a Super
Bowl someday

King finally off the board

I do not understand passing on the talent on the board for more chances at fringe roster guys.
We lost out on chances at George Kittle, Jake Butt, and Jordan Legget - all guys we could have used.
We lost out on DESMOND KING for extra trash-#### fifth round picks.
I am sick and tired of Rick Spielman's approach to the draft.

I think King is too short for Zimmers liking.

Which is what I mentioned earlier, it's not just Rick's decision to pass on these players.

Nonsense blather? Pretty harsh. I seriously don't think he has the confidence to draft guys beyond round 3. He constantly looks to make picks in the top 50, because it is easier to hit. After a certain threshold, he seems to kick in to a different philosophy: I don't know what I'm doing, so I'll just acquire more "shots"... as if every shot had the same probability of going in?
I don't know, I think if I was a GM I would probably operate in a similar manner. It's no secret most of the talent is in the first 2 rounds so I'd try to trade up at times to pick there. Mean while it's no secret a guy in the 4th is not much different from a guy in the 5th and so on so I'd rather throw as many darts as possible in the back end.
Either way the things a crap shoot and first round players even picked by the patriots end up amounting to little and guys like Stefon Diggs become studs.

Am I the only one who thinks this draft coverage has been a clown show?
It's been trending this way for a few years. After the first round they start bringing out former players who are getting worse and worse. Making jacka$$ out themselves, antagonizing the crowd. Now they're having an orangutan make picks? Add in obnoxious crowds who at this point are booing the crap out of Godell just because it's the hip thing to do. Just very disappointed.
