They take the league by storm at first due to their multidimensional abilities, but inevitably defenses figure them out and, as you point out, they tend to get injured.

Jackson is a little more unique because he's a really good passer in addition to being a dynamic runner. Most of the running QBs like Michael Vick were decent passers, but not great, which was a chink in their armor that DCs were eventually able to exploit. Jackson is a guy who could still do a lot of damage even if he can't run at all.

It will be interesting to see how his career develops and whether defensive coordinators can find ways to limit his running, as well as whether he can avoid injury. But as long as he plays the way he's been playing this year, I don't see a defense that can keep the Ravens bottled up, including the Patriots. We'll see how the 49ers do against him this Sunday. If the Ravens roll over them as I think they might, they'd have to be considered Superbowl favorites at that point.
I'm really hoping he can stay healthy. He's a lot of fun to watch. But, that does seem to be the pattern with running QBs. They are unstoppable until they get hurt, and the teams try to turn them into pocket passers... and they quickly become average to below average QBs. Jackson certainly seems to be a better passer than typical running QBs, so there is hope for him. He's improved a lot since last year though. He only completed 58% last year. So, we have yet to see if this is just an outlier year or if he's really that good. He certainly passes the eye test this year from what I've seen. His teammates sure seem to love him. That's never a bad thing.

I'm looking forward to the Bal-SF game. I agree with you. I expect the Ravens to win. My market will show the GB@NYG game though. Hopefully the Giants sneak out a win. :P

Where has that Aaron Rodgers been all year? That dude was uber-skittish all night. I'm sure the coverage downfield was decent, but I've watched Rodgers long enough to know the guy is willing to fling it. He was triple and quadruple clutching, seeming to not trust his eyes or his instincts. Yeah, the 49er pass rush was good and Bulaga was out, but Rodgers looked downright terrified. Kind of shocking to watch, and if it continues that way, the Packers are about to drop like a rock regardless of how "easy" their remaining schedule looks.

I was also shocked by how slow the Packers moved late in the game. They were huddling on every snap and taking the play clock down to past zero as they normally do, throwing a bunch of short passes, and taking their sweet time. And then the 49ers got the ball back for their 2nd drive of the 3rd quarter and scored in 2 plays.

It was shocking to see how poorly the Packers played. Yes, the 49ers are good this year, but the Packers showed no urgency or purpose. How that team is 8-3 is beyond me. I don't watch them very often, and the times I have seen them, including against the Vikings earlier this year, I wasn't overly impressed, but watching them last night I thought they were one of the worst teams I've seen this year.

Maybe the 49ers are that good. If so, the Vikes better hope fate intervenes and helps them get HFA throughout the playoffs. But if the Packers end up winning the North, based on what I saw last night and their overall statistical rankings this year, that will be one of the biggest travesties I've seen in a long time. They're just not that good.
It actually doesn't shock me at all to see the Packers play poorly. Their entire season has pointed to this.

I think San Diego exposed them (and we did to a lesser degree, actually, in Week 2) for what they are ... soft as fluffy kittens on defense. Run right at them, hit them in the mouth, and they turn tail and hide. Even when they get a lead, they get soft. They were up 21-0 on the Vikings with 14 minutes to play in the first half, then we ran it down their throats and should have won. They were up 31-3 against Dallas and were within a missed FG of that being a one-score game. Philly, not an offensive juggernaut by any means, absolutely pounded them on the ground and won easily. San Diego bloodied their noses. Detroit out-played them big-time, losing only because the NFL sticks their opponents with phantom penalties (the worst of which being the mysterious replay PI call to rob us of a touchdown). Green Bay is NOT the team everybody has made them out to be, and the league is finding out just how beatable they are.

The Giants could give them a game if Saquon Barkley runs it down their throats. But the Giants' defense is so bad that Green Bay can probably outscore them. The others (Detroit, Chicago, Washington) probably have no shot (interesting how the schedule makers gave the Packers a soft schedule down the stretch). No matter. Our fate is in our own hands. Win out, and the division is ours, no matter what the fudge packers do.

IMO the Packers could lose out or win out. The bottom line to me is they are doing a great job so far. They lead the division and control there destiny. I wish we were in that spot. We are behind them and can't lose a game or the division is theirs. That's a tough spot for us to be in. More so than the Pack. I hate that team and we couldn't beat them earlier which pissed me off. The Bears won't be an easy game. I don't see it as an easy game. We play them again and it won't be easy. They will try and dominate the LOS. That D is starting to play some ball again and will probably get better as they go along. They go for the TOs. They will play the Pack tough. They will get after Rodgers big time. He don't like that. No QB does. The Packers downfall could be between Rodgers and the HC. The HC wants to play games close to the vest. He holds Rodgers back. To me that's stupidity. Yes the 49ers kicked there a$$. It's tough to hit the road to the west coast. If the 49ers came to GB it might have been different. We have to hit the road to the west coast on Monday. I feel our team is better. Especially on the D side. The Hawks have no D. But it's a west coast road game. That's always a pain in the a??. As the Pack found out.
