I agree, the kid's a baller. I'm trying to temper my enthusiasm, reminding myself that, unlike Jarius, Diggs played in the ACC a pretty soft division so his highlights are not against the best competition. But he sure does look good on the tape I've seen.

Diggs reminds me of Golden Tate, John Taylor, or Steve Smith kinda guy ...

Deceptively quick and enough across the board ability... Will put defenders to sleep and
then make a big play..if you don't guard him like a tier one kinda player he will make you
pay.

Stefon Diggs Making Waves

While Spielman and his team of scouts knew they were drafting a speedy offensive weapon, it wasn’t until rookie minicamp when they put on the pads where they realized Diggs could be much more than the slot-receiver they once perceived.

“He’s bigger than you think he is. And he’s quick off the line of scrimmage. He can get zero to 40 quickly. I think this guy’s got a chance to be really good. He runs great routes. He catches the ball as well as anybody I’ve seen very, very easily,” said head coach MIke Zimmer

The thing I really like about Diggs so far, he seems really consistent. That is something the Vikings
receiver core has not had a lot of.

Vikings' Stefon Diggs: 'I've got a lot of work to do'
"I did OK,'' said Diggs, a fifth-round pick last May who also had a nifty diving catch. "I feel like I didn't win enough as far as on the outside. I got a lot of work to do as far as technique to try to get better. I've got a lot of work to do just as far as fundamentals out of my breaks, diagnosing coverages faster just so I can recognize my assignments.''

But what about the two touchdowns by Diggs that electrified the crowd? Bridgewater called it the "Maryland Terps connect'' considering Diggs is a rookie from the school while Hill last played for the Terps 13 years earlier.

"I don't even remember the touchdowns, I remember all the reps I lost,'' said Diggs, who did have a dropped pass. "I could have attacked the ball better (on the TD in which he beat Sherels). You can always get better. I got to win more.''

Sounds like he has a winning attitude. I always thought he could be a nice pick, but he might end up being an absolute steal.

Wow. That's quite a statement.
@GoesslingESPN WR Week on the Vikings blog continues with Stefon Diggs, whom George Stewart said is more athletic than Harvin:
"He's very similar to Percy Harvin when Percy came out," Stewart said. "Same type of athlete, but more athletic."

More athletic than Harvin -- the player who overshadowed Adrian Peterson as an MVP candidate in the first half of 2012?

"More athletic," Stewart repeats for emphasis.

Quite honestly, if that is even close to true, we have found one of the biggest steals in years.

Also from the article that's noteworthy: you know, just running routes in the dark (maybe) and finishing a game with a lacerated kidney.
"He loves football," Stewart said. "The first night he came on our campus, someone told me -- I don't know if this is true or not -- they were leaving the back parking lot. It was dark. They were putting their lights on to leave. He's out there in a helmet and a jersey, running routes on his own. I didn't want to go and embarrass him [by asking him about it]. If that's what he's doing, I want him to be a gym rat."

At this point, the stories about Diggs seem to have as much to do with his tenacity as anything else. He got hit from behind while trying to stretch across the goal line against Penn State last November, and played the rest of the game without giving much thought to the pain. After the game, Diggs realized the injury was more serious. "Anybody who's familiar with kidneys, what happens when you use the bathroom, I was like, 'Ah, something's wrong.'"

It turned out Diggs had lacerated a kidney. He was already ineligible to play the next week, thanks to his role in a pregame altercation with Penn State, but the injury ended his season and his college career. Still, it showed the Vikings how much Diggs loved football and what he'd endure to stay on the field.

Mike Wallace compares Diggs to Antonio Brown. As I said before and when we originally drafted Diggs, I think we got a big time steal and he's a guy that can contribute earlier than some might think.

Even though I don't mean for this to be quite as negative as it might come out but Diggs seems to be the Bizarro Patterson. Wallace has already compared him to Antonio Brown (who, you know, last year only led the NFL in receptions, yardage, and was tied for second in touchdowns).

Precision is hallmark for Vikings rookie receiver Diggs
Diggs said he wants to do things “by the book.” For instance, if his route calls for him to run 7 yards, run 7 yards on the dot.

“Not 7½,” he said.

“I really need to grasp the offense,” Diggs said. “I’m trying to be as smart as I can [since] I’m new to the league. I’m trying to learn all the information I can and do it the right way.”
