Nor me. I didn't see what he did but I heard about it later and it strikes me as a silly, classless choice to make, especially under the circumstances.

That's basically my take as well. I don't know if BB really thought all of that in just a few seconds or not but I have repeatedly heard on the radio that Patriots players said they practiced against that specific play during their preparation for the game and that, during practice, Butler allowed a TD on that play. His DB teammates kept reminding him of it and so he was primed and ready to go when he saw the Seahawks about to run it.

The fact that NE had as many DBs in the game as they did for the play certainly seems to suggest they had scouted it out and were ready not only for the play, but perhaps a tendency to run it in that second and goal situation.

I wonder if Belichick has commented on any of this...

I grilled my Thanksgiving and Christmas turkeys. I actually did a "beer can" grill, where you put a can of beer in a stand and put the turkey on top of it. and then throw it in the grill!! It was the most juicy turkey I have ever had!!

My dad loves the beer can method. Apparently, Mountain Dew works even better.

I have used the beer can method for many years. I have one of those barrel grills/smokers and it works perfectly. I haven't heard of using Mountain Dew. I hate soda of any kind, but I doubt you taste it. Does it keep the chicken more moist, with maybe a slight sugary glaze.

Side note: anyone see the kiss Belicheck gave his daughter after the game and think its kinda freaky?

I hadn't seen it but just googled it and saw the photo. I don't know. Honestly, I suspect he was out of his mind happy and relieved and had a moment of sharing that joy with a loved family member. I think a problem today is that our every act is potentially a point of mass critique and scrutiny by a huge number of people. An overly exuberant expression of love and excitement with a family member is a heck of a lot better than a lot of other inter-family issues that happened in the NFL this year.

It is interesting to connect it to something else I noticed during the SB: the large number of commercials that made emotional appeals to dads. Dove, Toyota, Nissan, etc. As the father of a little guy and someone who lost his dad somewhat recently, I found them moving, but felt a bit betrayed at the end of each 30 or 60 second slot when suddenly the product was tied in-- like a light bulb going on, "bastards! you touched my emotions and then want to sell your product in connection with things that I hold dear!" Maybe it's just me. I'm sure that ad execs finally figured out that most of the 110 million viewers were males, fathers and sons, who had watched the sport and bonded with their dads / sons and so it is a logical approach.
