Read some of the comments on the ESPN article, I have a hard time understanding the people that think Reed and Brown should have been in first. I want to smack those people upside the head. It's not even that close in my opinion. Glad the HOF voters saw it that way too.

I think those Tim Brown and Andre Reed supporters finally saw the writing on the wall, that they needed to put Cris Carter, by far the most deserving, in the door before having ANY chance to get their guy in. I'm glad for whatever turned the tide to get Cris Carter in the door. They say it matters not a lick, but Tim Brown's ridiculous comments defaming Bill Callahan just days ago cannot have helped him.

He said it was the greatest day of his life. Quite a statement, but then again, this is quite an honor.

In his case, it's clearly well deserved. I don't feel I'm reacting with bias when I said that he had the greatest hands in the history of the game. Oh ... and he could catch some TDs and run some nice routes too.

Congrats to Cris. And congrats to Vikings nation!

They shouldn't keep out Brown just because of those stupid comments. Clearly, Callahan coached an awful Super Bowl (e.g., Tampa's D knew the plays before the snap), but I don't think anyone truly believes that he threw the game on purpose.

As to whether Brown or Reed belongs in the Hall, I personally think they're both borderline, but I expect them both eventually to be enshrined. Neither one is in Carter's league, and frankly, their candidacy will ultimately benefit from being associated with Carter's candidacy during these past few years. Now, everyone is going to expect the other two dominoes to fall, one at a time.

I think both get in, probably starting with Reed next year.

Rice's career and production make it impossible to truly place any WR ahead of him as the best but I don't think I've ever seen a WR, including Rice, who could catch the ball as well as Cris Carter. In a little twist of irony Dan Pompei (about the 3:59 mark in the video) talks about if he had to jump out of a burning building, he hoped Carter was there to catch him. Wasn't Pompei the one who wrote the article discussing Carter's perceived weaknesses? I guess all is forgiven in the end, but I thought that was kind of funny...

I was at that game with a close friend (Bears Fan). I still remember that play! Carter was running towards the end zone we were in. The stadium was so loud my ears were ringing! Awesome trip down memory lane. Cris always made the trip and expenses well worth it.
