I think Matt Moore would be a great pick up for us...

he isn't great but with Adrian Peterson drawing 9-10 in the box he would
be more enough.

I think we should let Ponder develop a little longer and in another year if he isn't
ready dump him. Ponder does not cost us much. Moore wants a starting job and
he does not have that chance in Miami anymore.

I like that idea... Moore is a decent QB and he would be a major upgrade for us.

I remember when Henne got injured last year (I think) and Moore replaced him. I think he did a decent job. he could be the decent qb we've wanted for so many years. Nobody has ever really given him a chance to be a true starter, so I think it would be a cool experiment. The draft class is weak and we aren't certain about the free agent qb's right now so he would be one of the few options.

Alex Smith.

Smart QB IQ, can throw the ball down the field accurately, doesn't make big mistakes, very good at play-action, can pick up 1st downs with his feet, plays well with a good RB, and has shown he can handle pressure well.

I love Alex Smith. I think he is a very underrated qb and all he needs to be successful is a good coach. When singletary was coach he sucked, but when. Harbaugh came in he did great. Unfortunately, we dont have a good coach here in minnesota, although I think he would still do great because of the things you pointed out. Whoever is available between moore and smith I would be willing to go for. Moore would be a bit of an experiment, whereas Smith has experience, but he isn't a veteran.

AD and Allen's windows are too small for us to draft and "develop" a rookie QB. Either we trade 1 or both of them, or we sign a QB like Alex Smith who has proven himself to be efficient, and possibly make a run within the next few years.

Moore would give us some good years ..

I really wanted Orton a few years back, but we went T Joke and then Farve

Apparently Fitzgerald is very unhappy in Cardinal land, but keeps it all behind the scene. Now if we could just con them into trading him over to the Vikes for say, a 2nd rounder  maybe Ponder can "progress" a bit more in his 3rd year. Because barring something out of the ordinary, he's starting next year.

Good point!  Fitz would be AWESOME to have. I agree, it would progress ponder (or any qb we have at that time)

He hasn't progressed the qbs in Arizona. But on the other hand Ponder has shown promise. Fitz may be what we need. He probably would have caught that TD today that Aromashadu missed.

Looks like Alex Smith is a popular choice here. Mine too. Lets get him and a good WR to help out Percy and Kyle.

Alex Smith has been wallowing in mediocrity for most of the past 7 years and he was benched for a second year QB this season in the midst of what his team hopes is a Super Bowl run. Is he really a player the Vikes should target as an answer to their QB problems? They'd be be better off looking for another Kaepernick (sp?) in the draft .

alex smith would not be much of an improvement over ponder. we should have shelled out the money for peyton
