Depends on your definition of Good or Bad. At this point I'll be a little sad if we don't nab a late first for him. Even if he stays. I don't see him putting us over the edge this year. Or the next. Or the next. He's gonna get older and slower each year and I think this is our last chance to get really great value for him.

Looking over their message board it seems like they have several running backs that they are interested in.
It'll be another testament to the salesmanship of our GM if Rick manages to pull off a great trade.

I don't know, with some smart drafting and signings this could be a team that has the right pieces in 2016. We all know Peterson isn't built like other running backs. It's more than possible his production in 2016-2017, even if it slips a bit, is still lethal enough to be a considerable asset, and one that helps us win a lot of games. So he doesn't rush for 2,000 yards and 20 TDs. 1,300-1,500 yards and 10 TDs is still elite RB territory. I'd still probably take a 31 year-old Peterson over most other running backs at that point. Because I kinda despise Dallas, I really want the following to happen:
- Murray and Matthews sign with Philly
- Spiller signs with New Orleans
- Forsett re-signs with Baltimore
- Bush signs with 49ers
- Peterson stays with the Vikings
- Cowboys are all like "Wuuuuut?"
Granted anyone playing behind that line will be productive (and there are guys out there like Steven Jackson, Ridley, Pierre Thomas, McFadden). Still. Anything that hurts them will give me pleasure. I know, I'm kind of evil.

I think Dallas may be a little desperate due to the Murray thing. They lowballed him going into this. Maybe they're not a serious option for AD.IrishViking wrote:

I think Spielman is in a win/win situation...he'll get good compensation or they'll keep AD..... on a mutually friendly restructure?

I don't really see Peterson's ability to "put the Vikings over the edge" on his own as significant. I don't think any player does that, not even a great QB. The Vikes need to build a team that can win it all and Peterson could certainly be an important component of building a championship team and winning it all. I doubt he's too old to make that kind of contribution.
There's also the contribution he could make toward Bridgewater's development to consider. I see as many good reasons to keep him as to trade him so it's really just a question of what the Vikes, and Peterson himself, want to do.
