not trying to take away from your point, but no matter what happened in our remaining 2 games, this was not going to change
Would it really change the point of my post?

Patriots loss
Packers loss x two
Bills loss
Lions loss x two
Dolphins loss

The fact that the vikings had only 7 games with opponents above .500 and yet still find themselves at 6-9 tells you all you need to know about where the team is at right now. You have to win at least a couple of those games along with the teams you should beat. I know this was never going to be our year, but the "next year" talk should be taken cautiously, especially considering who our opponents will be.

Was there anyone who didn't think Patterson was going to take that kick out from 5 yards deep on the last return? Really not a smart decision.

I hate losing games like this. I couldn't even post, my blood just boils when we play like this. Questionable calls don't help. The D looking lost, and nothing done to try and fix that, really make me worry. It looks like they are back to calling the slightest touch Rhodes gives trying to defend, is going to be called, but mainly ST killed us again. But I think if you take everything else, and just focus on how the D gave up TD after TD late in the game, you will see our main problem. And It isn't Kalil. Or Asiata. And certainly not Teddy. Its the D. Once again. I think Asiata showed we don't need to draft high for a RB. If we do draft one though later on, I still like Cobb :D . Keep Asiata, McKinnon, maybe Felton. But our D is letting us down. Sound familiar?

There were some garbage calls today, the dolphins had a few too, but it was mostly some utter nonsense illegal contact/holding/PI calls that just handed Miami yard after yard. However, the vikings had two inane personal fouls that were unforced which also hurt. The vikings aren't good enough to overcome that many mistakes.

The defense never even came close to stopping Miami in the second half. Really awful performance. I hope it was due to losing greenway and the other guys they were missing. They looked GASSED. Was it the weather?

And yet the D played well against Detroit and was let down by the offense and special teams. I think a combination of injuries, youth, and a new staff has resulted in inconsistencies on both sides of the ball. It's frustrating to be in this perpetual rebuilding process but I think it needs to be recognized that there has been a major overhaul this season and that doesn't come without growing pains.

Vikes found a new, creative way to give the game away, after the Dolphins tried to give us the game. It was maddening to watch, live in my case. At least I didn't have to suffer through OT.

It was surprisingly hot in the stadium, and it definitely affected the defense.

Our WR's simply do not get open downfield. None of them looked very good.

Patterson has totally lost his mojo returning kicks. And his decision-making is not good.

Kalil had a decent game, but the rest of the OL made up for it by trying to get Teddy killed.

Asiata and Teddy played hard and well. Banyard didn't impress. I don't think Tate had a carry.

Lots of work to be done.

Maybe they were tired, with the heat. They looked lost that second half. And what really burns me is nothing changed. I guess I had higher expectations on Zimmer, and he would adjust as the second half went on, but nothing. ST is so horrible though. There are teams that don't have a blocked FG or a punt for the friggin game winning safety, all season long. We have had 2 in 3 weeks. I need a drink or 10.
