Really the Vikes are in a good spot to get a QB in round 2:

Rd 2 pick order:

Texans - I could see a QB going here
Redskins - will not pick QB
Browns - will not pick QB
Raiders - Unlikely to pick QB
Falcons - will not pick QB
Bucs - who knows
Jaguars - will not pick QB
Vikes

That should leave maybe Carr, probably Mettenberger. I could see Bridgewater getting picked by Houston.

That doesn't mean he was the #1 player on the board overall, the top QB could have easily been something like the 20th best player to them on their board overall so at #22 they felt good about trying to trade back up and get him. You don't take the 20th best player on your board if the 9th best player is there, that's called reaching and not because an ESPN talking head said so, but because your draft board said so.
Reach smeach...

That sort of thinking is over-thinking. If you need a quarterback and you think Manziel is worth the cost of at least two picks (no way they move up to the Eagles spot for less than that) then why screw around, pass on him and hope you can get him what, 11 picks later? That's ridiculous. If Manziel was a reach at #9 he was a reach at #20.

To me, fussing over value to that degree is just screwing around when a team shouldn't be screwing around, especially at the QB position. If they believed in Manziel enough to spend a first round pick on him, that's exactly what they should have done. What is that supposed 11 pick difference in value going to mean down the road if Manziel ends up being a an excellent NFL quarterback?

Bridgewater would be OK. Carr...would be very questionable in my eyes.

Vikings getting their third choice for a QB. Better than nothing.

And I just explained to you my reasoning behind that if you would read my post. He's a typical LB but has no pass rushing ability which outside LB's need in Zimmer's defense. It has been said multiple times that Zimmer likes athleticism on the outside and thumpers in the middle. Mosely isn't a thumper and struggles to shed blocks. Barr is a sideline to sideline LB that can rush the passer and fits the same position James Harrison played last year.
