lol so true but he broke down all of the formations that they run and loves that a team doesn't settle for a few. For what it is worth, Gore still was the hammer and if he was Vikes HC I'd assume he pound AP
And he would make it work. He would find a way to make them pay for putting 8 in the box and blitzing on every single play. But I still prefer Zimmer. He has stability written all over him.

Thanks NQ. You've offset some of my concerns.
I agree with koolaid though too. I want Zimmer. I'd love for this team to have attitude and be feared defensively.

Good article in the Tribune about Zimmer:
"The Vikings have the potential to achieve a positive rarity in their coaching search: a guy that is exceedingly qualified and looks like an excellent candidate for all the right football reasons also appears to be an instant fan favorite because of his results and fiery attitude.
Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer is that man. He is said to be among the potential finalists for the job, and he could even be the leader in the clubhouse at this point.........

I would be on board with Zimmer

I hope they give Greg Roman a good look, especially if we draft a rookie QB that will need a lot of guidance,he could definitely handle that.

I am skeptical of Greg Roman. I mean, those four play calls when the 49ers where in the red zone in the Super Bowl last year were just baffling. I am skeptical of how good of a QB guru Roman can be as well.
Maybe I am just biased, but I honestly feel that Mike Zimmer is the only candidate for this job. I really, really hope Spielman hires Zimmer.

It seems that it will come down to Zimmer, Bowles, and Roman. Hopefully by Monday evening/Tuesday morning the Vikings will have a new head coach. And hopefully a new attitude.

The more I read about Zimmer, the more I get worried that he could be (an albeit brighter version) another Chili.......Unlike Chili, he seems like a brilliant coach (yes, I know Chili was O and Zimmer is D, but same idea) but he seems like a guy that players will not like.....which can work for a couple of years until the fear wears off and eventually the whole act wears thin and there is a borderline revolt or mutiny by the players.
I just hope Slicky Ricky doesn't over-compensate for Frazier (perceived "players coach") and go too far to the other extreme.
Anyway, maybe I am over-analyzing.....any other thoughts on this?

I would have no problem with Zimmer , he has a pretty good resume ,he would be my choice if we hire a defensive guy

With all due respect, I think you're over-analyzing. Cincy players LOVE this guy. He is very well respected by players and fans and makes the most out of his players. Yes, he is intense but look back a few pages and look what I posted about what Burfict said. Burfict was a legitimate head case and Zimmer completely turned this guy around. He's the complete opposite of Frazier. Look into him more in depth and I can bet you will like him more and more!

I wonder how the team would react to a tough guy fiery personality like Zimmer. It all depends on buy-in and success. Winning smooths over personality conflicts.

So you are skeptical of someone for 4 plays IN THE SUPER BOWEL and you think the only man for the job is someone for who we have ZERO idea what his offense would look like.
Yea, I'd say you are just a bit biased.
(I just had to say Super Bowel, it fits that horrible sentence perfectly)

Ah, yes, like the recent discussions of "Todd Bowels".

This is just getting
sick.

We don't need the Anti-Frazier, we just need a competent non-Frazier. Another defensive coordinator for HC may not be a step in the right direction. We can fix our defense without turning our offense (which is a couple steps away from being very dangerous) over to someone whose offensive philosophy is utterly unknown.

Good points, I hope you are right. But if a guy like Burfict is afraid of him after 1 year, I wonder what he'd think of him after 3?? Either way it will certainly be exciting to see what happens if they do hire him

Fade to Crabtree on 4th & goal was odd. I'll give you that.
