The oft injured and hated Mike Vick says hi (just a week after becoming the only QB to run for 6k yards). Not like defenses having wanted to stop AD before, and most of the high valued players have a good relationship with him. Go to a few games and notice they all gather and talk after the game, take pics. Obviously Peterson has a tough stubborn mind of his own, hence why he's in this situation. "Psych games" won't play a factor. Just like they weren't when he tore his ACL and we worried he wouldn't be the same

Sheeez really Does anyone believe that opposing defenses will get into his head. He wrongfully went overboard diciplining his child (no one could dispute that) but I do not think that any other opposing player will give a rat's a$$ about it one way or another while on the field. As far as the fans go, I would bet that most Viking fans will cheer for him when he returns. He went through the court system and punishment was meted out to him. Forgive and forget I always say.

That is exactly what they did. And you know what? No other player in the future will voluntary go on the exempt list. They will have to be forced onto it. The NFL is shooting themselves in the foot on this and they are to blind to see it. My prediction is it goes like this. On Wednesday the 19th they will say he can rejoin the Vikings. On Thursday the following day they will announce a 6 games suspension for him. He will not play again this year unless the Vikings make the playoffs.

That's exactly how I expect it to go down.

I don't think there will be much outrage from players in the league for what he did to his son. He probably gets more sympathy from other players who feel he was screwed.

Part of me feels like the league treating him this way is part of a plan. Shift the focus on on how he's being treated unfairly by the league (who everybody already hates anyway) and maybe recover some of his market value. Punish him to the point where people start to sympathize with him rather than be mad at him for his actions.

I suggested something similar above, and I think it is a possibility, though I'm not sure how likely.

Here is the problem the NFL has in the Peterson case. All they have to work with on his discipline is this is not much. They have the original indictment. They have the no-contest plea and the punishment put out there by the courts. They have what Peterson said publicly. What they don't have is any details on the case. Even though we have all seen the pictures and the Grand jury testimony I don't think the NFL is willing to cross that line and use it. If they do it sets up a dangerous precedent for future cases against players. And since the TX Court has sealed the record, if I am not mistaken, that even prevents Peterson from disclosing much of the information about the case to the NFL. To do so would mean a violation of TX law and his probation.

So the NFL has tough road on this one. They have very little to go on.

Step away from the ledge guys ... at least let the process play out before the conspiracy theories start flying.

LOL the most likely explaination is that Goddelland his crew are way over their head on this one. They are suits and ties that are trained to deal with corporate sponsor deal, back room stadium deals, etc.....bloody messy child abuse, drunk thugs sucker punching ladies, star QB's trying to rape girls in bar bathrooms are far from what they ever thought they would deal with. I cant be too surprisedthat they are unsure of where to go with it.

Maybe Goodell is just going to use AD as his poster child for the 'new' NFL's stance on domestic violence. I would think AD's lawyers would be all over this, and get a date. Now. Or next Monday. More 'time' served would be idiotic, even for Goodell. And fine him (yes, I think the level of fine should equal his income), give it to a charity, and be done with it. God, I hope Goodell is gone by next year.

I thought you wanted AD to miss more games?

Regardless, the fine will be proportionally to his income. He'll lose game checks.
