Hawk would be interesting but I would still want somebody drafted in the first three rounds. At his best right now, he's a short term fill in guy.

I'm not interested in Hawk...from what I have seen his best days are behind him. I think the Vikes have some decent depth at the position but just lack another stud tp put in the middle with Barr. Hawk would be depth IMO.

Hawk never lived up to his potential. I seem to remember him being injured quite often. Let him go to a contender who needs a stop gap, not a team on the rise building for success.

Hawk would be a very bad signing.

If we try to address the position in the draft, Anthony is probably the most intriguing MLB because he has good instincts and ALSO the ability to play a little bit in space. Guys like Denzel and Dawson likely don't have the movement skills to stay on the field when offenses have personnel out there to stretch things out a little bit.

I'm not against Denzel or Dawson so long as they aren't expected to be more than excellent 1 down players. So I wouldn't take either one early.

I think there's a real chance, especially with so much depth at WR. Everyone has the raiders taking a WR, but there's a good chance one will be there with their second pick, so I could easily see them going in another direction in R1. Same with any of the top 10 teams.

You know, this is actually pretty close to my feeling. I wouldn’t have guessed Munnerlyn would be above average. I didn’t think that Hodges would rate that much more highly over Greenway. Didn’t expect Locke to be rated poorly, I thought he did pretty well overall.

Some of our receivers certainly have the potential to rise above average. Rudolph in particular I think can be better. Otherwise this really does make it seem like WR is the neediest position, doesn’t it?

In some areas, it is more positive.

I take issue with their rating greenway as "poor'. I think that's exactly the sort of thing that illustrates what a disconnect exists between PFF's assessment of players and that of an an NFL coach. Zimmer certainly doesn't seem to think Greenway is a poor player and Frazier didn't either. That tells me there's something the analysts at PFF are clearly missing.

It ticks me off to see them describe Asiata as poor too. The guy had 9 TDs and 882 yards on 208 touches last season, blocked well, lost one fumble and he's a poor player? Give me a break. I certainly don't think he's a special player but he's a solid, reliable player at the very least.

I'd drop Bridgewater, Sullivan, Cole and perhaps Munnerlyn a notch and bump Robison up to average.

Edit: I should add that I while I agree with the team needs they listed, I still think improving the o-line is the biggest priority and although i don't think Greenway is a poor player, he is an aging player and they need to consider his replacement as well as an upgrade in the middle.

It doesn't sound like many of those needs are going to be filled in free agency. It sounds like Minnesota is going to sit back on the sidelines for free agency this year outside of signing some really low-tier players.

I am all for building through the draft, but I will very disappointed if this team doesn't at least try for a player or two with a lot of upside in free agency. Then again, I would be pretty upset if this team signed a bunch of players in the free agency as well.

I guess we will find out what happens come March 7th and 10th.

I expect the measured approach they usually take but I think they'll be active in free agency. I don't know if we'll see them do too much during the free agent feeding frenzy that usually happens right when the NFL's year officially begins but I do think they'll sign some veteran help.

Maybe I am alone in this, but I want us to go after guys like Akeem Ayers, Derrick Morgan, Brandon Graham, Pernell McPhee, Jabaal Sheard, Kareem Jackson, Buster Skrine, Davon House, etc. on the open market. Or players that will command a decent, but not overly expensive salary. Guys that will be age 27 or younger. Players like these guys are the ideal targets in free agency. They are still in their prime and yet, have varying NFL experience.

Hard to say what this coaching staff envisions. I cannot say I would be too upset if we at the very least addressed our defensive end, linebacker, offensive guard, and offensive tackle depth in free agency.

I think Robison is a good player, but not a great fit in this system. Its not really fair to rate him as they did unless more factors are taken into account. He'd be a real asset for a lot of teams. Less so for the Vikings. I agree with you about Asiata. He's valuable as a solid backup and short yardage guy. He has a low ceiling, but he can still contribute.

It wouldnt be a bad idea but he can't stay healthy and honestly, I didnt mind Blanton. I'm wondering if we would look into Kendall Langford. He was just released by St. Louis and has experience at both DE and DT so he is pretty versatile which is what Zimmer likes.
