Yeah ... Mike Zimmer's "blow outs" are boring affairs. Up by 20 points is basically the end of actually trying to score. If they score, great, if not ... well, did we keep running the clock? Then we're treated to the "bend don't break" field goal buffet defense. It's very formulaic and doesn't make for a "fun game". It's not a bad strategy unless you start it in the 2nd quarter which he seems to do now and again..
That said there were a lot of fun parts and enjoyable moments. The first half was really fun the watch. Keeping focused in the second half was a little difficult though. It never felt like the Lions had a chance.

Somehow it seems unlikely that Kirk Cousins is thinking, "Treadwell's wide open for a touchdown, but he's a stiff who shouldn't be in the NFL, so there's no way I'm throwing to him." As Forrest Gump's mama once said, "Stupid is as stupid does." The "does" was a 58-yard touchdown. Not that stupid.CharVike wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 10:47 amI think your wrong with that. Few QBs look guys off. I can list plenty of Viking QBs that couldn't make that play. I can start with Joe Webb and can continue but I don't want to blow the form up. IMO that's a lost play for most in todays world. If I was Cousins I wouldn't even look for Treadwell. That's a stat killer. That's the stupid thing he did on that play. With Treadwell it's about 10-90 if he can even catch it. It's about 1-99 him beating anybody deep. That took guts and some stupidity. I forgot about throwing to a stiff WR that shouldn't be in the NFL. And wasn't for some time.VikingLord wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 9:27 am
Looking a single player off only should work if the defender has to choose between two competing options. In this case, the shorter target was already well covered IIRC, while Treadwell was wide open deep. There was no conundrum for the safety on that play. He jumped a shorter route that was already covered and left a deep WR wide open.
The credit I can give Cousins on that play is that he kept the play alive and found Treadwell, but it wasn't like it was hard to find Treadwell. It was a nice throw, easily caught, so I'll give Cousins credit for that too.
And dude ... ALL quarterbacks look guys off. They do their best to control the safeties with their eyes. The ones who don't get picked off. A lot. Like, Jameis-Winston-a-lot.

Go ahead. I dare you.

What I was trying to point out is how good Cousins is playing. He's stepping up big time. Currently we have one very good WR and when/if Adam gets back we will have two. Treadwell wouldn't be in the league if it wasn't for injuries and us. He was the best choice because he knew the O. There's not a QB that would want to throw the ball to him. Maybe I wrong and he's a wanted guy. We have Diggs and then ah............ wooosh. Nothing at WR. Tough to play like that.J. In Treadwell's defense, he's played pretty well since we picked him up. Hasn't been asked to do a ton, but he's done OK with what they've asked of him. I actually wouldn't be opposed to keeping him as a 4th receiver. Only problem is we don't typically roster 4 receivers.
On the good news front, Adam Thielen is not listed on any injury report. Looks like he's finally back in the lineup against the Chargers!

I thought signing Treadwell was a good move and he has done some good things. His ability to make one play and nothing is really mind boggeling. The ability is there but somethings not right. Maybe it's mental. Not saying he's stupid but maybe the concentration level gets off. Or maybe defenses are confusing him and he's not adjusting his route correctly or recognizing it. As long as we have our top two guys that's good enough.J. Kapp 11 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 4:32 pmSorry bro. Misread your post.CharVike wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 3:52 pm

The one play and nothing is probably something the coaches saw on film and used him to exploit. Similar to what Aldrick did last year.CharVike wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 9:42 pmI thought signing Treadwell was a good move and he has done some good things.
