Problem is, if there aren't great O-lineman available, what do you do? Or maybe a more important question might be, what if you have no one that can recognize a good O-Lineman?

In the Vikings case, I think you replace the GM and reevaluate everything from there. That may seem like a drastic measure but there are plenty of reasons to do it and both undervaluing and mismanaging the o-line are high on the list. Ditto for the the way the QB position has been handled for over a decade.

For those who don't want to take that drastic measure: perhaps bringing in an expert to help with the situation. They need to address their o-line issues aggressively, on all fronts: scouting, drafting, coaching and, of course, personnel.

These talks are often difficult here because if you mention a weak unit you're "making excuses" for another unit. This isn't always the case.

Obviously football is the ultimate team game. A great qb can make an average o-line look good. An amazing line can make backs, qb's and receivers look great.

I haven't read anyone on this board calling cousins a hall of famer. He has weaknesses plain to see and i'm not convinced he's the guy to get us over the hump. That said, I don't know how one could honestly say there's no way he can't be that guy.

In it's simplest form, he's a guy in his first year with his new team. he's playing behind the worst offensive line in football who in my opinion lacks talent and was faced with the death of their coach just before the season. To be clear.....I'm in no way shape or form suggesting this death is an excuse for our play all year! But as a former athlete myself from a coaching background I can't imagine what that did to this unit.


His coordinator got fired mid-season. Again, no excuses but there are many factors that go into a season, a game and a play. Cousins could have played much better all year. You won't get an argument from me on that. But don't let your opinion of him blind you to the fact that this line was atrocious all year.

The acquisition of Cousins and the season he had are symptomatic of a much bigger problem: the lack of both a cohesive vision for the offense and people in charge with a clue about how to form and achieve such a vision. It's simply not there.

OL wins games and Cousins is a bad fit for any team, Casey had drive and confidence.. Cousins is counting his money laughing at us.. The redskins knew this...

I think that last year with Pat, the offense was playing like a team.
This season not so...seemed like everyone was in conflict. I'm not so sure Flip and Cousins was on the same page and I know Cousins and our receivers wasn't in agreement.
I think by the last half of the season Cousins was wore down and gun shy.

Cousins has a lot of talent, but that doesn't necessarily make you a winner.
Let's hope they do things right with the offense this upcoming season.
