Save your breath. I tried to tell them why the Hughes- Oneil picks were in the wrong order and no one listened. Now our first and 2nd rounders are riding the bench while we have major holes at guard and Tackle. We dont need 5 pro bowlers but 3 would be nice.PurpleKoolaid wrote: ↑Tue Aug 07, 2018 9:06 pm Too bad Rick just doesnt draft Oline guys. The D is going to be one of the best in history, so lets keep making that stronger, and forget about the glaring weakness we have had for years, the Oline. But we got Hughes, he can move over and play G...

Anybody feel different about this with Easton out for the year?
Vikings put in a call to retired guard Joe Berger
Read moreIt may be too early to term this a desperate call, but the Vikings did reach out to a retired guy after finding out guard Nick Easton would likely miss the entire season because of a neck problem. At least this one is unlikely to end in profanity and deleted tweets. According to Chris Tomasson ...

Kinda frickin' have to now. You can't rely on anyone's castoffs when the rosters are cut and you need someone to get into camp ASAP. Between Kirk and now the O-line, there's a long way to go to get everyone on the same page.
Dammit.
Dammit.

I wouldn't be surprised if the team doesn't make a trade and works with what they have. Compton, Isadora, Collins, time to step up.

Aviante Collins has improved massively. Has been winning tons of reps throughout camp in one on ones and in eleven. Played both guard spots and tackle and winning against second and first team DLs

Collins was a Tackle w/ strength issues. No one is going to put him to play Guard.808vikingsfan wrote: ↑Thu Aug 09, 2018 2:27 pm I wouldn't be surprised if the team doesn't make a trade and works with what they have. Compton, Isadora, Collins, time to step up.

Yep.
I said any trade would be made out of desperation.
This probably qualifies.
Go ahead. I dare you.
Underestimate this man.

The only problem with standing pat is that depth becomes a concern. Not something you should be talking about 1 week into camp, but that's the situation they put themselves in.
Move Rashod Hill inside and let the rook play RT. Best I can think, but does Hill have experience playing guard?

Zimmer Calls For Calm Amid Vikings’ Offensive Line Woes
...MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – As if things weren’t bad enough for the Minnesota Vikings’ offensive line, with starting center Pat Elflein and right guard Mike Remmers unable to practice, now left guard Nick Easton is out for the season due to surgery to correct a bulging disc in his neck. The team’s already shorthanded offensive line is now even shorter.
Read moreZimmer says he’s not worried. “I know everybody’s nervous about our offensive line, but I like the mentality of those guys,” he said. “I like how they work. I’m around them quite a bit. And they’re going to figure out a way to get it done. So: Calm.” Sounds a little bit like Aaron Rodgers’ “RELAX” from a couple years ago.

Rashod Hill is very unlikely to be moved in to Guard. We have to assume Remmers will be back, and remain hopeful that Elflein will also be back before the season starts.PacificNorseWest wrote: ↑Thu Aug 09, 2018 6:20 pm The only problem with standing pat is that depth becomes a concern. How often do you see 3 pro bowlers from the same OL?? Outside of Dallas. And O'Neill could very well contribute earlier than we think. I honestly like Isidora over Easton. Compton is a question mark because I haven't seen him enough. And don't forget about Gossett either. Lets be honest Easton was our worst starter IMO. So it isn't the end of the world. Having him start compared to Compton or Isidora isn't much of a drop off if any at allYikesVikes wrote: ↑Thu Aug 09, 2018 12:12 am Save your breath. But keep trying to find minute points to latch on to. I would be happy with 5 capable guys. Right now we have 2. Easton was our worst starter until we moved Remmers inside and slide Hill outside. He is not a good enough RT. So now we have 2 positions with unacceptable level players, another that should have been upgraded, an average guy, and a center that looks like he can be damn good. This has the making of a terrible offensive line.
