#2 and maybe most importantly to me is what's not being said.....
Giving a 1st red pick means that Teddys injury is way more serious than we are privy too. We will never be drafting high enough to get that Elite 1st rd QB. So, maybe they think we keep Bradford at the helm and maybe he can actually live up to the hype ?
That's exactly my reaction. I think they are worried about Teddy's future.

I'm not entirely sure how to feel about this trade either but I'm glad they did SOMETHING. I think it may be a steep price for Bradford, but only time will tell. But yes, if he stays healthy, then we are legit contenders again. That's a major question though.

This also gives us a solid win for week 7 this year.

Sam Bradford's 2016 base salary is $7M and 2017 is $13M. He has a $4M roster bonus due next March.

It's amazing how severely one injury can potentially doom a franchise.
I think you payed a heavy price, but ultimately got a player who can adequately replace the last without much dropoff. (If any.)

I understand the leeryness in regards to the trade, but I think (like others have mentioned) that they are trying to bank on having a late round pick.

So final breakdown is this: For Sam Bradford, Eagles get a first-round pick in 2017 and a conditional 4th in 2018.

Well obviously that ploy failed.

A first and a fourth for a guy who will be here ONE YEAR.

This team was taken behind the woodshed on this one.
He's under contract for 2 years. And Teddys injury is brutal, he may not ever be right.

But coming from someone who likes passer rating even more then most, I don't think that is indicative of #### in this situation, and find Bradfords career production infinitely more impressive.

He has had legitimately good seasons as an NFL starter, including ratings over 85 in the last three seasons and over 90 in one of them, Hill can't compare, Hill is a career backup.

This puts a ton of pressure on Bradford. They don't do this trade if they don't think he can take us deep into the playoffs. Let's hope he's up to the task.

The Eagles are paying Sam Bradford $11 million to play for the Vikings.

Re: Teddy's injury-it's too early to tell, so calm down. #Vikings being prudent and planning worst case, as they should. To not is negligent

I like this move.

I feared that they would just grab the best option off the scrap heap of free agents. We are a contender now, so let's go for it. And this move is exactly that: they are putting their chips in.

Bradford's been in odd offensive systems. I think he can flourish here with the pieces we have in place.

Teddy's agility and running speed is what I will miss the most. Can Bradford do the same with a healed up body? Who knows, but as far as having a veteran with a decent arm, I'm okay with Bradford. As long as the O-line does its job, he can be productive, but the O-line for any quarterback is key.

If Hill would have started the entire season, and the Vikes as a whole had failed to go deep into the playoffs, the Vikes probably would spend a first round pick on a QB anyway.

"Come on Sam! I bet you must be glowing right about now knowing you have a chance to lead the Vikes!"

...wisdom

I'm with you here. Even if we were to get to the divisional round, that's a very late first round pick. Nor are we nearly as desperate for them as some teams. I actually like the move. Wish it could've been a little less but Bradford definitely upped our SB chances

This is about the best you could do on short notice. Bradford has never had very good weapons around him. The year he got injured, he was leading the NFL in TDs. Last year he had a 97 rating with a 65% comp rate. If he can stay healthy, this is the best QB this team has had since Favre. Hill still starts week one, but I think the Vikings can beat TN with Hill.
