I didn't have the exact numbers in front of me, but I threw it out there. Next time I will thoroughly research before posting thoughts and opinions. My bad.
Now going forward, I like everyone hopes that our guys always develop into All Pro guys or reach their potential. I root for 1team and 1 only. We want the Vikings at the top every year. The current way has not worked with the current players. I merely suggest moving onto new players for the current staffs schemes.
Allowing the current coaching staff to hand pick the players. Granted, we all have our favorites, but I cheer for the Vikings, regardless of who's wearing the purple and gold !
I just hope that we continue to be more athletic and fun to watch while creating a great team.

Subtract the "dead money" number from the "cap figure" number,
and you know how much you're saving when releasing a player.

Wow, you guys are brutal.
Merely pointed out numbers and got ridiculed.
Obviously we don't rid of everyone, but it goes to show that a large percentage, somebody will do the math just because, goes into only a handful of players. Robison is not going to get released as he starts and is productive.
Felton is not a ton of money, OG Johnson is not a lot.
AD,IMO, is not going to be a Viking. Taking anything we can in a trade, I think many teams will be giving up a nice draft pick for a chance at him.

Hopefully we have another solid draft and maybe Spielman finds a good FA.

Is there any reason to believe that Mckinnon can't be the "man"

Unless a great RB some how falls into their laps, I think much more pressing needs are necessary for this team.

PBruise, you are right on. I think McKinnon can be the guy if given the ball regularly. Asiata is surprisingly off to a good start today, but not really "special" imo. Add Tate and we should be able to overcome AD. Are they as good? No chance, but we can improve dramatically as a team without ADs salary.
Looking forward to last couple games, but offseason should be exciting. Either we keep a top 5 player in the game, or we lose him and have a ton of $ to entice FAs .

Im certainly not sold on RB being our first priority next season. Asiata has an eye for the endzone, and is a good power runner. We don't know enough about McKinnon to say he cant be our main RB. The question is, do we keep Tate or Banyard. I hope we don't have to lose Felton. Norv has to get him in on some run plays.

Honestly, Asiata just is not explosive. Maybe he's a FB ?
He works hard, runs hard, but he is a 3 yd per carry guy. He's definitely a red zone back, but doesn't bring fear to a Defense.
I am not thinking we need a RB in the draft, but definitely WR, OG, MLB, and CB.
Between FA and the draft, if we address those positions, we could seriously contend next year.
Gimme WR Parker, Bama MLB, and Wake Forest CB in draft. OG in FA and watch us drastically improve.

He is not a breakaway threat, that is Mckinnon's job but I do not agree with you that he is not bringing fear to a defense. He is deadly in "must gain" situations and scoring tds..
I really like the kid and I think that the team and coaches do too. He is not going anywhere soon.

Agree that he's not going anywhere, but he is a short yardage guy. He only gets what the OL creates.
I like him, but am not stuck on him. I just haven't seen a lot of him creating runs. Just taking what's provided.
Granted, that's good when the OL dominates.
I don't think he brings fear to a defense. AD does, Charles does, Foster, McCoy, Forte, and the list goes on.
I highly doubt DCoordinators are spending hours on game planning to stop Asiata in their meetings.
Regardless, I still say WR, LG on offense. MLB, CB on defense.
I've said for years that I think Robinson should be a safety.

One thing about this year's draft/FA is as long as its a quality player, no one should be disappointed in the position picked (minus QB and RB, if AD is back). Other then that I say WR or even BPA in countless positions. Zimmer is our man at HC, I hope Rick gets another year or 2, to see if he does have a plan. I am not big on his FAs. At all. And that should, and I think will, change this year.

Isn't the cap going up quite a bit this year?

I dont agree with that at all. Jennings is the most reliable WR we have and catches anything thrown his way. By releasing Robison, it does nothing besides put a hole at DE now which we don't need. Kalil is still very young and has been playing better lately. Why would we release a guy flat out when it doesn't even free cap space and he's only 25. Where is the logic behind that??

I was making fun of some of the other posters who wanted to get rid of the entire offense and defense. I know better than that

I just think he should be given a couple years with Zimmer to see what the Vikes can do. I just cant be real big on Rick right now though. But I don't think changing stuff around right now is a good idea. We have been on a rollercoster ride since Tice got fired.

Adrian isn't going anywhere. Tate will probably be gone and Banyard will go back to the practice squad.
There is no way in hell they let go of adrian, regardless of his cap hit, with the cap going up and a developing second year QB who could use a weapon like that to flourish.
